About

My name is Carly and I am mummy to Olivia and Oscar, I have a love for photography which is the reason I set up my Instagram page, to share pretty photos.

I also love to get crafty so this blog will be a mixture of motherhood, interiors, crafting and up cycling projects.

Olivia’s Woodland Theme 2nd Birthday

The Cake

I made Olivia’s first birthday cake so knew I could make a simple white icing semi naked cake easily so decided to stick with that and scrolled through Pinterest for some ideas.

I came across one with a rustic bunny ear topper so set about making one from some wire, jute string, hot glue gun and some faux flowers. I already had a tree slice cake board so it was all coming together finished off nicely by a wooden number two topper by Willow & Griff.

This along with the woodland table cloth and napkins I found in Sainsburys is where the theme came together and I started getting creative!

The Food

I scrolled through Pinterest for some food ideas and so I made babybel cheese into ladybirds, chocolate raisin droppings, twiglet twigs, mini chocolate roll logs and marshmallow strawberry toad stools.

I also didn’t want to cut the cake at the first half of the party with our friends so I made some toadstool cupcakes with white icing and strawberry’s and used white chocolate fingers cut in half and chocolate sprinkles to make bunny’s.

The Decor

I also made a balloon arch for Olivia’s first birthday and think that it will now become a tradition for their birthdays, I used a mixture of white, pearl and mint green balloons in a variety of sizes and tied them together in pairs. I then used fishing line to loop around each pair of balloons in a figure of eight to keep them together and tied knots at each end leaving a length of line for hanging up.

To tie it in with the woodland theme I added some faux ferns purchased from eBay.
