What's all this?

What's all over Instagram and why are people protesting?

On May 25th, George Floyd was killed by Minneapolis PD officer Derek Chauvin. Chauvin handcuffed Floyd, who fell to the ground face-down. Chauvin then kneeled on Floyd's neck for nearly 9 minutes, despite Floyd's cries for help and saying "I can't breathe." George Floyd was killed by Derek Chauvin as officers Tou Thao, Thomas Lane, and J Alexander Keung watched.

It took 4 days for Chauvin to be arrested. It took more than a week for the other 3 officers to be arrested.

All these protests aren't just for George Floyd. They are for George Floyd and all the other Black Americans killed by police in recent weeks and since the founding of this country.

People are protesting because Black lives matter. People are protesting because law enforcement needs a complete overhaul. People are protesting because nobody is above the law, and those who take innocent lives should be punished accordingly. And again, people are protesting because Black. Lives. Matter.
