Tell the world what you’re made of
Hello! I always struggled with “introductions” of any kind, I never know the proper way to begin. My name is Juliet, but I go by Jules or JJ. I grew up in a small town in New Hampshire, away from big cities. My mom only really baked during the holiday seasons. She would drag out the very large, old, cookbooks that were from her mom’s time on earth. I enjoyed the times she would though! It brought me this unexplainable joy to see the flour, the sugar, and even the baking soda out alongside those giant cookbooks with the ripped edges. I found other interests in the artistic and creative field, but never one that brought me so much joy like baking for my friends and family did. I began self studying cake baking and decorating once I graduated mainly through YouTube and Skillshare, which worked fantastic for me. I have been practicing cake baking for over two years now, as well as decorating. I began feeling confident in my ability to sell cakes back in 2020 but did not begin discussing the possibility of opening my own cake shop. I am autistic and always wanted my special interest in some way to be apart of my career and that’s why today I am determined to begin my dream. I am have two goals as a cake baker and decorator; create the customers dream cake for their special day, event, or even just for a random day and remember that creativity is in the eye of the beholder, all and any ideas are good ones. If others around me were to describe me in three words it would definitely begin with shy, but end with determined and goofy. At the end of the day, I just want to know I smiled and that I made someone else smile that day. I have always lived by that, even when I was small. Life is an experience and I want mine to be one where the ability to enlighten and make others happy, even for a moment, is involved.
