Perennial Doula Collective

Supporting the seasons of parenthood

Perennial Doula Collective is primed to root, flourish, adapt, and lean into the rhythms of how the natural world functions around and within us. It is inspired by the term “perennial” and its thoughtful and multifaceted definitions.

Perennial as in the flora around us that cycle each year through growth, rest, and renewal, returning better rooted and collaborative within its environment each time. Perennial as in embracing the multi-faceted, multi-generational existence of five generations co-existing in today’s world and workforce, as defined by Gina Pell. Perennial as in observing the journey earthside through birth, each solar return, milestones, rites of passage, and the transition to afterlife.

Perennial Doula Collective operates in its own seasons, utilizing these critical anecdotes and natural cues to act through sustainable patterns and resources, while recalling community, rituals, and our capacity to receive.

January through May focuses on postpartum support. June through August focuses on birthing journeys. September through November focuses on childbirth education (pregnancy, birth, and postpartum preparation). December focuses on rest. Please contact us if you are seeking services outside of these “seasons.”

My Why

Christina Maul

While seeking to align my talents with my abilities, I am here to support the Portland community as a birth/postpartum doula, childbirth educator, and journaling superconductor.

As the first of three girls to initiate my mother’s matrescence journey, I carry so many lessons from both my upbringing and my own parenting journey into the birth and postpartum work I provide others. I am enamored to share in these sacred, beautiful moments in birth work. I am so grateful for the support, guidance, and remembering that has come to me through doula work.

Everybody and every body should have access to a doula, and care with dignity, belonging, respect, non-judgment, and safety in the birthing process and postpartum. I aim to help foster these considerate spaces and experiences in an effort to improve birthing outcomes, especially for Black mothers, who are most adversely affected.

Perennial Doula Collective is sited upon the ancestral, unceded homelands of the Multnomah, Mollala, Cathlamet, Chinook, Clackamas, Tualatin, Kalapuya and many other Indigenous Nations. Land acknowledgements recognize and respect the enduring relationship that Indigenous People have with their traditional homelands, and are a small step down the path of repair, reconciliation and cultural revitalization. One percent of Perennial Doula Collective profits are donated annually to community organizations that support those who still feel the effects of colonization today.
