About Us

Handcrafted origami jewellery. Est. 2019.

Founded in Indonesia in 2019, Phantasmagoria began as a convention stall and became a hit from its very first event. Through the pandemic years, we continued trading through an online shop and local creative markets — adapting rather than stopping.

In 2024, we brought Phantasmagoria to Melbourne, applying to three conventions and being accepted to all three. In 2025, we returned to KaiCon and Animaga Melbourne with stronger sales and growing demand for custom orders and online purchasing.

Each piece is folded by hand from Japanese washi and chiyogami paper. No two are exactly alike. We use 304 surgical stainless steel hardware throughout: hypoallergenic, tarnish-free, and built for everyday wear. All origami is finished with a paper sealant for water resistance and durability.

Meet the Artist

“A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one”

Hi! I am Flo (vloohsd). You might know me as the girl who always asks people to join her TikTok content at anime conventions. Or you might know me from even earlier, when I was still actively participating in Artist Alley back in 2016 to 2019.

So how and when did I start making origami jewellery? I have had a great interest in the art of origami since my high school years — fun fact: I was part of the Origami Club in high school!

It was not until 2019 that I discovered and bought origami jewellery for the first time. Long story short, I lost one of the earrings. Out of frustration, I tried to find similar-looking paper and attempted to make a replacement. Of course, it turned out to be a disaster since I had no background in jewellery making at the time. Although I never did finish the replacement pair, I found my passion for designing and crafting origami jewellery through that experience. After countless trials and errors, I decided to bring my creations to the market — and a lot of people loved them. Phantasmagoria remained active in online stores and designer markets in Indonesia from 2019 to early 2022.

In early 2022, I temporarily stopped managing Phantasmagoria to focus on my studies and career. Now that I have finished my studies, I want to continue pursuing this passion alongside full-time work. I want to rekindle the creativity that has been lying dormant — to share the art of origami and jewellery-making with more people. Hopefully this year I will get to meet more people who share similar interests, both at markets and conventions and through social media!

Process vs. Result

Beyond the Scenes and Screens

The process of making origami jewellery is more complicated than it seems. Each origami model is created by small-sized paper. Most of the time a tweezer was used to aid folding to maintain the accuracy of each fold.

Double coating was done to ensure the durability of the origami. Coating was done carefully, paying attention to even the smallest corner. I also have to ensure the first coating is completely dry before doing the second coating, so it does not break the paper.

After both coating procedures are done, origami is carefully processed into earrings. If it is not done carefully enough, origami paper will break and cannot be used. Only the pieces that pass quality control after the production process will be up for sale.

Past Exhibitions

Our journey as event exhibitor

ITGCC (2019)

Phantasmagoria was an exhibitor in Artist Alley at the Indonesian Toys, Game, and Comic Conventions (ITGCC) 2019. At that time, Phantasmagoria was managed by Flo and her sister where they also sold anime-themed merchandise that they illustrated themselves. Amongst the other items sold at the conventions, the origami earrings became hot-selling items at that time.

Folkacommunal (2021)

In 2021, Phantasmagoria was invited to join a local design market in Jakarta, Indonesia. Despite happening in the middle of the pandemic era, the market gained attention from art and design enjoyers around the area. Phantasmagoria was one of the brands that stood out due to its uniqueness and aesthetics.

Mania Event AU (2024)

After a lot of consideration, Flo decided to introduce Phantasmagoria into the Australian market. At that time, she saw an advertisement for Mania Event AU’s artist application. Phantasmagoria is chosen as one out of 13 attending artists at the Mania Event AU’s artist alley.

KaiCon, Melbourne (2024)

Phantasmagoria made its second Australian convention appearance at KaiCon Melbourne in March 2024. The event was a great success, with strong sales and consistent foot traffic throughout the day. The stall became a talking point on the floor, known among attendees as “the rizz table” — a nod to the TikTok challenge board Flo set up as part of her content creation at the event.

Animaga, Melbourne (2024)

Phantasmagoria returned to Animaga Melbourne in August 2024 — Flo’s first time tabling since 2017, at an event that has been part of her creative journey since its early years. The stall drew steady interest throughout, particularly from visitors searching for a meaningful gift for someone special. From selling illustrated merchandise to handcrafted origami earrings, some things come full circle.

KaiCon, Melbourne (2025)

Phantasmagoria returned to KaiCon Melbourne in February 2025 and it was the strongest event yet. Returning customers came back for more, and new visitors actively sought out the stall after discovering it through social media. The response confirmed what had been building quietly for a while: Phantasmagoria had found its audience.

Animaga, Melbourne (2025)

Animaga Melbourne 2025 was Phantasmagoria’s busiest event to date. Traffic was constant throughout the day, customers returned multiple times, brought friends along to pick matching pieces, and the stall rarely had a quiet moment. The overwhelming question of the day was simple: “Where can I find you online?” It was the moment that made everything click.
