Prakash Goud, who started his political career with the TDP, played a key role as a leader in that party. He contested for the 13th Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 2009 and the 1st Telangana Legislative Assembly in 2014 against the Telugu Desam party from Rajendranagar Assembly constituency and won twice over the nearest Congress candidate Gnaneshwar. In the Telangana by election of 2018 , he contested from Rajendranagar Assembly constituency on the Telangana Rashtra Samithi party ticket and won with a majority of 25,881 votes over the nearest Telugudesam party candidate, Renukuntla Ganesh.
