Hi!

My name is Mariama, thanks for visiting Rahma Maternal Services. As a Doula, I launched Rahma Maternal Services because I’m passionate and dedicated to supporting families during one of the most transformative experiences of their lives. With specialized training and deep commitment to women, I offer personalized care and support to expectant mothers and their partners as they prepare for birth and beyond. It’s with pride and joy that I make sure no woman is left behind. I whole heartedly believe every birthing person deserves a Doula.

Additionally: coming from a multicultural background gave me the opportunity to connect and build relationships with people from all walks of life. I speak 4 Languages - French, Arabic, Fulani and English.

Finally: I have experience working both inside and outside of the hospital system and setting. Let’s work together to create a plan that meets your unique needs for childbirth and beyond.

Learn to harness the ancient art of traditional babywearing that will help you and your baby.

I’m sure you’re wondering, “what’s traditional baby wearing”?
Well, it’s a practice that was known to be used by many civilization - from the ancient Greeks, Egyptians, Arabs, Chinese, African Civilizations and many more. Carrying their children on their back allowed them to freely move around without feeling the weight of their babies during long or short journeys, or daily tasks. Although there are different ways women chooses to carry their babies, there are pros & cons that you should carefully consider.

Of course some - like (Traditional West African) ways of carrying your baby have more benefits than others at different levels of your baby’s developmental stages.

Remember- Babies were attached to their mother’s hip or back most of the time & it’s still an ongoing traditional practice that’s used many today.

Your baby on Your back

So, here, I’ll teach you how to use traditional West African baby wearing that involves carrying your baby on your back with a specific type of fabric. Fun fact: in South Africa, they call this fabric kinga/kanga. Each country/people has its unique name for the fabric.

Using a specific type of cloth, you secure your baby on your back by wrapping the cloth across your torso.
