Raíces Morenas; Nostalgic scents and stories familiar to nuestra cultura

Hola! Soy Mayra. I am the founder & creator behind Raíces Morenas.

I have always loved being surrounded by things that smell good. But dealing with health issues & realizing how toxic a lot of the products we use are, I wanted to make small changes around my home.

After being laid off work, I decided to turn my hobby of making candles into a small business.

With many people creating candles, I wanted to make something that made me feel represented as a daughter of Mexican immigrants & incorporate cultura, familia, & nostlagia.

Raíces Morenas was born through the idea of connecting with our roots & carrying our memories through the sense of smell, while using non-toxic products & herbs like our ancestors did.

They represent the Latine/Hispanic communities in remembering their roots & where they come from, in a place where they may not always feel safe to openly talk about.

Our culture & traditions are represented with the nostalgic scent & even the name & story behind the products.

We want to bring those memories to the surface of your being & make you feel a connection & represented.

Just like a picture can say a thousand words, a scent can tell a story & that is my intention with the products I make.
