About Me —
Bella Brooke | Yikesimbella | RaspberryArt
I, Bella- Brooke, am a 21 year old Massachusetts based ‘content creator’.
I use the vague terminology, as not only did I not start as a full-time artist, but a large part of what I do consists of daily interactivity with people like yourself.
I’ve always had an interest in the arts, in all facets. Literature, music, media arts (photography, videography, painting, drawing), etc- I began making YouTube videos in 2016. I did well at first, but as my effort weakened, naturally, so did the rewards reaped.
Eventually I stopped doing videos altogether and found fun in doing livestreams. Not as an occupation, but as a cure for boredom. I began working on my own music rather than learning covers.
From there, the ‘Effortless’ EP was born.
In 2018 I released the ‘Effortless’ EP, with ironically maximum effort, to all platforms- even YouTube and SoundCloud for free listening. They didn’t quite succeed, but that wasn’t the point of it. It would’ve been nice, as anyone would think to themselves but it wasn’t the g o a l.
2020 barged in, as it did😬- I found myself starting the year looking for a job, as I lost mine midsummer of 2019. Christmas had just passed and I still painted for fun, so for a Yankee Swap I painted a Kermit-sipping-tea-portrait. For da memes, quite clearly. Someone stated by the end of the endeavor, “You could sell that, you know!”
I thought on that a bit too hard.
I had only ever taken one art class, but love learning and have the ability to teach myself almost anything. So many fears came with the decision. I still looked for jobs, did online surveys and such to get by. But, here I am, at the end of the year.
I’ve sold about 50 custom+ handmade pieces, sent art off to 5 different states, done 20 free portraits for strangers I grew to know, I’ve developed a positive and supportive Tiktok community that interacts with me and my art daily- checking in, motivating me, pushing me forward.
If taken back and made to choose again, I’d take the path I took this year.
Without my loving and immensely supportive boyfriend, my amazing E-friends, and, ambition none of what I’ve done would be possible. I’m thankful everyday for what both I, and RaspberryArt are becoming.
Sorry for the length, I like to be transparent 😅🤲🏻💖
