About Ross

My name is Ross Kelly and I am passionate about improving my community.

I’m 27 years old and currently working remotely for a financial services company in the town 4 days a week.

I moved to Navan with my family when I was younger and was welcomed into this community with open arms, now I want to give back to the area which helped me.

I’m not the kind of person to sit back and complain about something, things get done by action and putting yourself forward.

Young people have not got an adequate voice at the decision making table of our local authority, and I want to be that voice.

I got the bug for politics with the Save Claremont Stadium Campaign, when this important community facility faced closure I contacted the board and management of the stadium and offered my help to run a massive online campaign to raise awareness of what’s going on and ways to help protect our community stadium. Claremont is a valued community resource which is enjoyed by all age groups in our local area.

I’ve been involved heavily in charities locally and community groups focusing on Mental health with a strong emphasis on youth mental health. I got to sit on the Youth Advisory Panel for Jigsaw Meath offering advice on ways to make the service more youth friendly while being involved in fundraising initiatives.

From this experience I was asked to sit on the Board of directors as the youth representative for the charity on National level where I got to participate in service plans which benefited 100s of young people around our country.

I was appointed a Peace Commissioner in 2017, one of the youngest in the country at the time and to date have helped 100s of people around our community and the county in witnessing various legal documents, changes in official documentation, citizenship applications and business licences.

Based on this experience I have the following key priorities I wish to prioritise if elected to Meath County Council.

Priorities:

▶️ Improved facilities for young people in our community

▶️ Better integrated local public transport system benefiting everyone

▶️ Dedicated remote working hub for Navan.

▶️ Increased Garda visibility to help dampen issues with criminal and threatening behaviour.

I will be focused over the coming months to share my ideas, listen to yours and work to improve our community together.

Talk to you soon,

Ross
