If you’re looking for a great guide to take you to the best surf around Sanur (Baby Reef, Serangan) at a fair price, look no further.

I’ve had about a dozen different surf guides during my time in Bali and Wayan is one of the best of the best. He’s friendly, articulate, thorough, attentive, patient, well-mannered, good-humored and really gives you personalized feedback and coaching after every attempt. He’s leagues above the guides who just push you and yell. His English is also really good, so he’s great at answering questions and explaining anything you might want!

I improved a lot just from one session with him as an intermediate surfer, and my friend did too as a beginner. He really challenged us and helped us catch a ton of great waves.

Him and his crew also provide GoPro footage, high quality surfboards, and overall good vibes. They’re really there to take care of you and don’t make it about the business or the money.

Will definitely come back next time!

I go surf with Wayan and Kadek several times a week and they’re the most reliable and friendliest captains I’ve ever encountered in Bali. I also went fishing, wakeboarding, and foiling with them - always great fun! A couple of my friends took surf lessons with Wayan as well and were more than happy. 🌊

Wayan has been my go to waterman in Sanur since 2015, his family provides a comprehensive package of boat taxi and water sports lessons around Sanur, Babies Reef, Lighthouse, Hyatt Reef and Serangan. His team check that you are locked in for a surf both the night before and early in the morning. His guys make sure that get you out to the breaks before the crowds and provides a dawn video of the break to give you a real-time view of what the waves are doing if you want. If the conditions are average he recommends better locations. I would recommend Wayan to anybody want to learn to surf these breaks or for the best taxi service in the area.

Wayan is the man. He's got a team of a few guys who can take you to and from either 'Baby Reef' or 'Serangan Surf Point'. If you want he'll let you know the best times and conditions and you can always rely on him to do this honestly. If there's no surf today, he'll tell you and not trick you just to get money. Honest guy. My other half has had some great lessons with him too! He's patient and encouraging.

Definitely recommend Sanur Surf School. Wayan was an awesome teacher and fun to hang out with for a few hours. Baby Reef is amazing, especially if you are a beginner/intermediate because it doesn’t get too shallow and it’s not crowded.
