My name is Marta Botelho and I’m the artist behind Searamics.
I’ve always had a passion for handmade art, but when I discovered ceramics back in 2018, I fell deeply in love with the mindful practice of the process. After a year and a half of private classes with Elsa Figueiredo (currently teaching at AR.CO) and encouraged by friends and loved ones, I decided it was time to take this passion to another level and set up a tiny home studio in Cascais, Portugal, where I now make all my pieces.
As a surfer, a travel enthusiast and an Earth advocate I get my inspiration from the extraordinary everyday life, from people, from nature and from the ocean.
Having lived in Australia during my childhood, I developed an apetite for travel and spending time immersed in different cultures and atmospheres, so a lot of my creative process derives from my exposure to such diversity.
As I matured I became a firm believer in simplicity, in intentional living, in savoring life at a slow pace and in sync with our natural rhythms. I’m all for the beauty of the imperfect which is reflected in every simple handmade piece and it’s uniqueness.
Searamics is a way for me to share a little of myself and these principals that I try to live by, as they bring so much joy and meaning to my life.
