Shebase Braids

The home of haircare.

Shebase Braids is a mobile hair salon that was founded by Nosipho Nondaba Zondi in 2017. The founder is deeply rooted in embracing her roots and using her hair as an expression and a way to do away with the past injustices that have been projected to Black people for the colour of their skin and the texture of their hair. Shebase Braids stand for the upliftment of women, in their circles, personal spaces, work and the world. It advocates for comfort in one's own skin, that means accepting all our hair textures, the downfalls that come with it and embracing it because it is what makes us different but beautiful.

Shebase is derived from the founder's clan name - Shibase, a Zondi clan name. It made sense for the founder to incorporate her origins to what she does because it forms part of her identity. Shebase is a play of words, where She represent who the founder is, female and basing is her business! Crazy? I know.
