YOUR MIND AND SKIN: HOW TO DE-STRESS YOUR WAY TO CLEAR SKIN

Overtime, experts have told us that psychological conditions like stress and anxiety could play a major role in common skin issues. Including acne. The connection between the skin and the central nervous system is very relative i.e, when there is a slight psychological change, it could as well alter your skin.

Stress never goes away totally, there is always an after effect. When you are under pressure or really stressing out, the body produces more sebum that leads to oily discharges. At this point, if the skin is not attended to, it could clog the pores which is 'hello acne'. STRESS also causes inflammation in skin which automatically exaggerates eczema or make the skin vulnerable to irritations.

A stress free person has an hormone level that is relatively balanced. But once there is a contact with STRESS- whether physical or psychological, the body repels and it is usually accelerated. This is why there us always a visible effects on your skin that is linked with the mind, hence, affecting how you feel altogether.

The mental state affects the skin in the following ways:

Lifestyle

Choice of lifestyle could be a factor. Lack of sleep due to nature of work.

SOLUTION: Find time once in a week to decluster your mind. Sleep, do some yoga and meditate. Also, find a coping mechanism that resets your body automatically, hence reducing the risk of being stressed out.

Perception

A lot of people negatively look at themselves due to their underlying skin condition. Hence, confidence is thrown into the big. Skin conditions like acne could lead to serious social deprivation and chip off self-esteem.
Perception could also come from the sudden unacceptance of one's skin complexion. Most people are not satisfied with their skin because they feel it is not 'glowing' enough. This often affect the type of care such individuals opt for(looking for fast action skincare products, skin bleaching, etc) which could cause the skin to be prone to infections. Emotional distress could cause the skin to break out seriously.

SOLUTION: Relax. Be self-aware and continue to work on yourself. Get reliable skincare products and stop stressing out. Take Yoga sessions or meditate(10 minutes a day). Stay positive and practice self love. This would help you manage the emotional noise.
