Towels are way more disgusting than you might think! Bathroom towels- whether they're a body towel, hand towel, or face towel- are full of bacteria, even viruses. Due to the environment they hang out in (your bathroom), towels offer the perfect scenario for bacteria and other microorganisms to grow. In research conducted by Charles Gerba at the University of Arizona, it was found that 90% of the towels in the study carried coliform bacteria, and 14% had e-coli.. Ew! Over a course of three days, the bacteria multiplied 10-fold. “So, just think about it. You wash your hands and you dry it in the towel and then maybe you had some ecoli or salmonella on there and they get into the towel.
