....cause reading is sexy!

I’m a self-described book worm...I just can’t get enough. I read a book a week on all types of topics. Below is a list of some of my favorite books. I’ll keep adding to it.

Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen

This book is a wonderful read...it takes you on a journey that is the stuff of legends. Reading it introduced me to the most amazing people, that live a life that is a testament of the strength and fortitude of the human spirit.

The Holographic Universe: The Revolutionary Theory of Reality

This is my all-time favorite book. A conceptual breakthrough for consciousness researchers and new physics theoreticians. Michael Talbot shows that we are greater than our physical boundaries, and rolls in new science into the equation, that man and cosmos are part of an interconnected hologram, with the whole in every part.

At the highest level, stars in the sky, fish in the sea, the heart in our chest, pulse as one entity. Time and space are illusions, because past, present and future exist simultaneously.

The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid: A Memoir

Bill Bryson takes you through a hilarious journey through his Fifties childhood in heartland. It’s full of insights, wit, and wicked adolescent fantasies.

Norse Mythology

A Delightful Retelling of the Tales of Thor, Odin, & Loki. Beautifully written.

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks

Heartbreaking and powerful, unsettling yet compelling, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks is a richly textured story of the hidden costs of scientific progress. Deftly weaving together history, journalism and biography. This book tells the story of the enduring, deeply personal sacrifice of this African American woman and her family and, at long last, restores a human face to the cell line that propelled 20th century biomedicine. It’s a brilliant and necessary read.

The Life of Charlotte Bronte

This book recounts Charlotte Brontë's life from her isolated childhood, through her years as a writer who had 'foreseen the single life' for herself, to her marriage at thirty-eight and death less than a year later. The resulting work - the first full-length biography of a woman novelist by a woman novelist - explored the nature of Charlotte's genius and almost single-handedly created the Brontë myth.

The Daily Stoic: 366 Meditations on Wisdom, Perseverance, and the Art of Living

The Daily Stoic offers 366 days of Stoic insights and exercises, featuring all-new translations from the Emperor Marcus Aurelius, the playwright Seneca, or slave-turned-philosopher Epictetus, as well as lesser-known luminaries like Zeno, Cleanthes, and Musonius Rufus. Every day of the year you'll find one of their pithy, powerful quotations, as well as historical anecdotes, provocative commentary, and a helpful glossary of Greek terms.

Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less

If you’ve found yourself stretched too thin, felt overworked, underutilized, felt busy but not productive, feel like your time is constantly being hijacked by other people’s agendas then this is essential reading.

Essentialism is more than a time-management strategy or a productivity technique. It is a systematic discipline for discerning what is absolutely essential, then eliminating everything that is not, so we can make the highest possible contribution toward the things that really matter.

The Alchemist

The journey of Santiago, takes you on a journey of self discovery. This book changed my life. Reading this book helped me to understand, that often the treasures we seek are right under our noses, we simple have to look.

Man's Search for Meaning

This is a book for finding purpose and strength in times of great despair. I re-read it a lot, when things feel a little scary and I’m in search of hope.

This is Going to Hurt: Secret Diaries of a Junior Doctor

This book will have you laughing out loud from the very first page! It tells the story of a junior doctor on the frontlines of the NHS. It’s witty, smart and hilarious.

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life

In the words of Ryan Holiday “Resilience, happiness and freedom come from knowing what to care about--and most importantly, what not to care about. This is a masterful, philosophical and practical book that will give readers the wisdom to be able to do just that.” It’s an absolute must read if you’ve go 0 f*cks left to give.

Becoming

Becoming is an intimate, powerful, thought-provoking, inspiring memoir about Michelle Obama. Reading it felt like Michelle was sitting across the table from me telling her story.

I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings

Sent by their mother to live with their devout, self-sufficient grandmother in a small Southern town, Maya and her brother, Bailey, endure the ache of abandonment and the prejudice of the local “powhitetrash.” At eight years old and back at her mother’s side in St. Louis, Maya is attacked by a man many times her age—and has to live with the consequences for a lifetime. Years later, in San Francisco, Maya learns that love for herself, the kindness of others, her own strong spirit, and the ideas of great authors (“I met and fell in love with William Shakespeare”) will allow her to be free instead of imprisoned.
