Please allow me to introduce myself,  my name is Steve Weatherly, and I am the owner of Steves Knife Shop.

I am originally from Jasper Missouri but I now live in the small town of Arma, Kansas, in the extreme Southeast part of the state.

I wish I could say that all our knives here were made by me, but in fact, most of our knives are imported from other countries. And the reason for that is purely economic.....US made knives like ours, are just too expensive to try to sell. Everyone wants a good high quality hand made knife, but they balk at the high dollar asking price.

So to get around that hurdle we get most of our knives from overseas...and the quality is very good, but the price is very reasonable when you buy wholesale from the knife manufacture ........which is what we do.

Our knives are hand crafted, high quality, and made by expert knife makers with years and years of experience.

Back in the day, I used to make quite a few knives,, starting in 1988 and I had an excellent teacher who taught me the craft. His name was Robert Edge of Joplin, and he had a knife shop in Galena, Kansas for many years. He was an expert knife maker who had over 50 years of knife making experience,

Robert taught me to make all kinds of knives,
regular high carbon steel blades, stainless steel blade and also Damascus steel blade knives

He showed me everything in a hands-on method that was very comprehensive, and he did that for several months out of friendship... at no charge. He numbered each of his own blades, and probably the number was up around 4,000 or more or more at the time of passing, a couple of years ago. His knives were like old time mountain men blades from the 1860 - 1870's.........nothing fancy, but his knives were solid and long lasting. I saw one of his blades recently, that he had sold to a local fellow many years ago, and it was an early numbered one from his first or second year of his knife making career...but it was as good and sturdy as the day he made it.... perhaps 50 or more years ago.

Before starting my knife business I did some considerable research, and found out that US made Damascus knives were very high in price, because the US knife makers can ask a high price for their knives, and can usually get it. While imported genuine Damascus knives can be bought at a much lower price, and the imported knives are still hand crafted, and very high quality knives. That's why I choose to import most of my knives from overseas.

It just makes good economic sense....you can get the same hand made, quality knife for about 1/4 the price, when you buy imported knives.....and everyone likes saving money.....right ?
