External linkThe purpose of my thesis is to analyse the issue of digital pollution generated by the resources involved into the functioning of the world wide web and the support of the circulation of data and information, considering the exponentially growing technology level and its endemic pervasiveness into people’s lives. My thesis is divided into three parts. In the first part there is an overview of the scenario and the analysis of all the variables that led to the definition of the “digital pollution” problem. In the second part the theme is examined in relation to the role of the designer and the solutions inspired by communication design. In this section, the focus is on a design framework elaborated for the production of sustainable digital contents. In the last part, I implemented my previous research into a design concept for a market leader brand - already renowned on the subject of sustainability - in order to open a dialogue for the problem examined in the previous chapters. At the end of this last chapter, digital sustainability finds expression in a environment conscious digital strategy, having a start with the first functional unit, the website.
