Malo ni fam! ❤️
My story doesn’t begin with me because I had a solid foundation growing up. I never would’ve reach this point in my life without it so it is important to me that I firstly acknowledge the roots of my humble beginnings.
I was born in the small village of Fakaofo, Tokelau and by the time i turned four my parents made the life changing decision to send me to New Zealand with my aunt and grandparents. As a child my life had already been planned out by these people who sacrificed so much for me to have a shot at a better education and to have access to greater opportunities.
Starting a new life in NZ with my family was difficult and far from being a smooth ride. From a young age I became aware of what struggle meant and looked like, even if my aunty had tried disguising it with so much love. She quickly and naturally became my Mum. For years I watched this woman work two if not three jobs all at once just to make ends meet as the only bread winner in our family. English was her third language and she had encountered many other difficulties.
Over the years, we were able to move out of a relatives home and into our own. My mum had achieved so much and yet she was never able to catch a break juggling a hardcore job, looking after her elderly parents and attending my extracurricular activities. All while paying bills and fees on top of everything.
I wish I had shown you instead of describing what sacrifices were made for me to have the life that I live now. To be able to receive opportunities that I know children from back home in the islands want and couldn’t have. I cannot amount for everything my mum has done and continues to do for me. This story alone doesn’t do her any justice for the trials she experienced.
Her hustle inspires my hustle.
Commited to making my family proud and desperate to give back to them, I grew up believing education would be my quickest ticket to reaching that goal. I had adopted a career pathway in business and commenced my studies at Massey University. My first and second year went by so quick and i was already 20K deep into my student loan. I started working night shifts as FOH staff at a restaurant while being a full time student. I later on gained a job position in retail which became my day job and then I was working at the restaurant for the night. I was trading a lot of my time for money.
Building my very own Jewellery Business was also a goal of mine brewing on the side, yet to be achieved but I never had a ready mindset for it because I was so deep into an unstable routine and an unhealthy environment.
Itching for a way out I came across an opportunity that I knew would be a game changer! It has taken some time but now I am here. Finally saying yes to myself and for my family. Creating an UNCAPPED income so that my family and I have the freedom to live our lives without being bound to an alarm, schedule or desk. To give Mum the early retirement that she deserves and to become the best version of myself.
⚡️ I can finally take control of my life again and navigate it the way I see fit.
⚡️I can continue to pursue my dreams in business and entrepreneurship.
⚡️I can show up for my family and make up for missed quality time.
This is my story. My why. And my purpose. Find yours and say YES 💯
