I was married in 2019 to the most amazing man in a simple, fuss-free, short ceremony on the beach, barefoot in FNQ. I didn't care about fancy, or extravagant, or spending a million dollars on our day, I just wanted to marry this man without all the stress or expense and it be just about him and I.
We loved the freedom that came with our choice to marry in another state. I am a huge fan of the ocean and to marry this man that I loved right on the sand with the ocean as our backdrop gave me a sense of happiness and peace.
We told everyone we loved a year prior that we were heading north for our special day and they were all more than welcome to join us.
We hired some chairs for our guests, seagrass matting and an arbour to set the vibe and it looked absolutely stunning.
Our ceremony was no more than 10 minutes long and then it was time for the celebrations to begin. Starting with us and our 24 guests enjoying some champas and beer on the sand. Then off to an amazing bar across the road from the beach to celebrate into the night.
We then spent the next 5 weeks travelling FNQ to places we had never seen before.
Had we had that big fancy extravagant wedding we probably would not have been able to have the most perfect honeymoon and made so many beautiful memories like we did.
My passion for fuss-free, intimate ceremonies was born that very day.
