It can be very persuasive and therefore it is necessary to develop strategies to identify and critically assess news you read on social media. Lots of things you read online especially in your social media feeds may appear to be true, often is not. According to Web Wise, fake news is news, stories or hoaxes created to deliberately misinform or deceive readers. Usually, these stories are created to either influence people's views, push a political agenda or cause confusion and can often be a profitable business for online publishers. Fake news stories can deceive people by looking like trusted websites or using similar names and web addresses to reputable news organizations.

To educate people about fake news. To update everyone from fake news that are spreading. To prevent people from spreading fake news. To help people make more informed decisions when they encounter false news. To lessen the victims of fake news. To let everybody see the real news.
