An Introduction
All important information to know about the system or vessel.
We are The Candy System, a dissociative identity disorder collective with around 20 alters.
The vessel was created in 2000, but we all celebrate different “birthday’s”.
As a collective, we use pronouns such as they/them and it/its as we do not all correlate with the pronouns for certain sexes; though, some of us use pronouns such as he/him, she/her, and xe/xem.
We identify as a Quoigenic System, as our opinions on whether or not the system was caused by trauma is pretty split.
We are all pretty open about the vessel’s trauma and our individual traumatic experiences, and are all pro-vocal about mental health issues.
FAQ’s:
Q: Where did you get your system name?
A: We’re all pretty big fans of Adventure Time and spent around 9 years on Tumblr going by Systematic Candy, which turned into The Candy System.
Q: How did you discover your DID?
A: We started off missing chunks of time, misplacing things we didn’t remember moving, and having various issues with daily living that were thought to have been physical; so those were all pretty big clues that something wasn’t right so we took it to a psychiatrist where they diagnosed us as a system.
Q: Do you feel that self diagnosed systems are valid?
A: Yes and no. Obviously, with the flux of fakeclaims on apps like TikTok, it’s hard to trust anyone that says they are a collective but I feel that disorders that alter identities are often overlooked and mistaken for other disorders.
Q: What’s the best thing about having DID?
A: Always having reassurance when I need it, and having other “voices”, so to speak, to be able to fight for me when I can’t fight for myself.
Q: What’s the worst thing about having DID?
A: The missing time, the lack of sleep, the migraines, and the dreadful feeling of if me or my experiences are real.
