About us
Meet Hope, the woman who started the Happy Gordita from an idea to fruition. Hope grew up in a family of 10 where she learned to cook alongside her mother from the age of 10. Her mother, being from Oaxaca, Mexico, taught Hope how to make many authentic Oaxacan dishes with traditional spices. One of Hope’s favorite dishes were pellizcadas! Hope wanted to share these pellizcadas with everyone so, with some help, she opened the Happy Gordita. Some know our {gorditas a la plancha} as gorditas, pellizcadas or even sopes but for a beautiful play on words, we stuck with gorditas. The Happy Gordita is a Latina owned business, ran by women passionate about serving up a little taste of Oaxaca. We hope you become the happiest Gordito(a) after you have stopped by our food truck.
