Creating a life lived with intention

Hi! I'm Mindy Niehaus, the one behind The Haus Wanderlust Built. It all started when I renovated an RV as we sent out on a tiny living adventure. We may be back to living in a house but my focus is still the same. To live a more eco-friendly and sustainable as I teach my kiddos to do the same. With a new goal to spend as much time as possible exploring as we build a greater love for this planet we call home.

Keep Nature Wild

The Haus Wanderlust Built is your newest Wild Keeper Ambassador!
Joining a movement along with others that have made a promise to do good. To reduce our footprint and help others to do the same. To clean up our planet and share the value in doing the same. To use our voices and platforms to speak up.
I'm so excited to share more with you.

The Mission of Keep Nature Wild:

- Our products have purpose -

We pick up one pound of trash for every product sold!

We stand for what we stand on!
Our mission is to build communities by picking up trash outside. With our Wild Keepers, we pick up one pound of trash for every product purchased.

Use funds to sponsor cleanups.
We do more than just sell cool stuff. We host a minimum of twelve cleanups a year and mobilize people from all over the world to host cleanups sponsored by Keep Nature Wild.

Make products with nature in mind.
We get inspiration from the wild places around us. Each product is a reminder to get out there and explore - whether that means climbing a mountain or just taking a walk down the street.

Make the world a better place!
Our goal is to remove 1,000,000 pounds of trash by 2023. Together with our Wild Keepers, we’re making an impact, one piece of trash at a time.

The Haus Wanderlust Built Overland Edition

Challenging others to get out and explore as a family

Overlanding is defined as a self-reliant adventure travel to remote destinations where the journey is the principal goal. Typically, but not exclusively, it is accomplished with mechanized off-road capable transport (from bicycles to trucks) where the principal form of lodging is camping; often lasting for extended lengths of time (months to years) and spanning international boundaries.

This all about the adventure; packing up, heading out, and exploring as a family. There are no limits to what you can do but instead there are only the possibility of it all. Little by little we will take bigger and lengthier trips. But with school and work we are gearing up for a summer full of fun!

Tiny Living

the story behind our the haus wanderlust built

It always starts with an idea but it's weather or not you turn an idea into reality.
After doing some research I came up with a plan to show Jake, the husband. Knowing I would be doing the renovations myself since Jake was currently in the middle of a year long deployment. Jake initially thought I was crazy to want to live in a camper for a couple of years. But I was adamant that it was something I really wanted to do and he knew I was fully capable of doing the renovations myself.
So after dropping Kalyn off at school Case and I headed to look RVs. Jake and I had looked at the inventory list before hand and new what type of floor plans which made it slightly easier. We decided on a Keystone Cougar 293SAB because it has a separate bunkhouse with its own bathroom. Now to start planning as I waited for the camper to be delivered and the real fun began.
With a timeline of 4 months to complete renovations there was no time to waste. Jake created an Instagram account for me to document the renovations at THE HAUS WANDERLUST BUILT was created. Renovations were completed just in time for our move to Florida. The last things on our list was to buy a truck and sell nearly all of our belongings! Easier said than done, but with Jake finally home it was possible. With all of our belongings packed into the camper we headed to Florida to begin our tiny living adventure. Two years of living tiny taught us so much about ourselves and we would absolutely do it all over again.

We sold our sweet tiny home the summer of 2020.

Feature of the Month

Become better and shop brands who care.

Our efforts to make this planet a better place for future generation should be at the forefront of our minds.

That is a huge reason why I love brands and businesses that put an effort into making our earth a better place.

Here is where you will find amazing brands that do good. Brands that are eco-friendly, clean oceans, plant trees, use recycled materials, are 1% for the planet members, aid in sustainability, along with many other ventures to clean up the planet.

Purchasing awesome clean up kits that are made from recycled plastic and are biodegradable is a great way to get the entire family involved. I have personally purchased a couple and always have a bag stowed away in my day pack.

I look forward to working with Keep Nature Wild more in the future.
