My name is Keziah, but I also go by Kay. I am Nigerian American, currently living in Atlanta, Georgia. I graduated from Georgia Southern University in 2014 with a bachelor’s of science in nursing.

I have worked as a nurse in Atlanta for 6 years now...(like wow...it’s been 6 years already and I’m a whole nurse lol). I have worked with both adult and pediatric populations, with experience in medical-surgical, orthopedic, spinal, dental, and pediatric trauma surgery.

Currently, I am a certified pediatric nurse, blogger, and full time MSN student. I will obtain my degree in nursing education in May 2021. I work full time at the top children’s hospital in Atlanta where I have found my passion for mentorship.

As a new graduate nurse, I faced many challenges with confidence, delegation, communication, and time management. I nearly decided to quit nursing all together, but transitioning into pediatrics allowed me to find my passion in nursing again. My number one goal as a nurse, mentor, and blogger is to help new graduate nurses build the confidence they need to work autonomously in their new career.

The purpose of my blog is to highlight the importance of work-life balance and self care. As nurses, we work so hard to take care of everyone else, sometimes you have to “Treat yo self”. The Off Duty Nurse has been my baby for awhile now, and I’m finally feeling confident enough to share some of my recent projects. Thank you to those who continue to encourage and support me.
