Hello and welcome to my Blog

A blog all about what makes my heart beat

Hi, my name is Meg, a wife and mama to 2 wildlings that keep my hands busy and my heart full.

By day you can find me running my business, creating content for brands that I love and keeping up with the role of mama in my house.

While we keep busy in the week, we enjoy slow weekends, spent with our family and friends and frequent trips to the bush which is evident all over my feed. There is no place like Africa and we want to experience it all.

A few of my favorite things!

Just a few of my favorite brands that you will find featured often on my feed.

I am such a fan of supporting local so when it comes to posting my #OOTD for the day or my recent purchase, I always look local first. Being a business owner I know the heart that goes into a local business so supporting these brands goes further than just spending my money on pretty things!

The perfect family getaway

We have just returned from 6 blissful days in the bush and I couldn’t rave about this place more if i tried.
Just to mention a few things that make this spot one of our favorites:
• Service is impeccable, with the friendly staff that you meet throughout the lodge, you are always greeted with a smile
• FOOD! I have never had a meal at Bayala that we didn’t all love and wipe the plates clean.
• Kid friendly!!!! Most of the staff know my kids by name and are greeted with a loving hug every time we arrive or leave. They have a beautiful pool area which has an extended top step, perfect for the kids that can’t swim as yet and for a great day of splashing about. Meals are prepared according to what your kids love and they always go out their way to ensure the kids are eating familiar foods (ie: chicken strips and chips, pizza and more)
• Babysitter option! WIN! We spent this last trip making use of the babysitter service available. We tried it for the first time to see how the kids would respond and each night thereafter they would ask if they can stay behind to play with the ladies. Thandeka and Zama were phenomenal and even baked cookies on the last night, which the kids LOVED!
• Game viewing : INCREDIBLE
Look, it’s not always sunshine and roses because the lodge can’t plan the sightings too but when you do find them, the experience is out of this world. And the bush coffee and home made rusks that come with your drive is something that keeps us going back for more.

Our game ranger is always Emma, she has a wealth of knowledge across the board from the animals, to the birds, trees and soil. We have never been on a drive where she has not worked her tooshie off to track and find the animals. Again, she can’t plan it but it’s definitely not for the lack of effort. She is incredible with the kids and always answers the 50 000 questions that get thrown her way. Highly recommend you request her for your trip.

How are the kids on the game drive? Is something I get asked often.
My three tips for your drive is this:
1. Pack plenty snacks ( I always pack cheddars, flings, apples, naartjies, biscuits and juice)
2. Pack sunglasses, a hat, a beanie and a jacket. You will use each of these at some point. Sunglasses help with the sun in their eyes in the summer months too.
3. Pack a spare change of clothes or put a nappy on incase your little one falls asleep on the car, we always put them under the chair in the front row where they pass out for most of our afternoon drive. The nappy is for the younger ones that are potty trained but that nap is too good that they wet themselves.

So if you are looking for a lodge to treat the family too, Bayala is your spot. We always stay at the camp and absolutely love the accommodation too.

Love Meg xx

Torahs 3rd Birthday

There is no denying that I leave no stone unturned when it comes to my kids parties!

When it comes to birthdays, and if you know me well enough, you will know i make a big deal!
In my house we have a birthday week, we make a big fuss on the day and the parties are always planned accordingly, and rightfully so right?

So for my little teas 3rd birthday, we went with a theme suited perfectly to her! Wild & Three!
Torahs favorite animal is a giraffe so I made that the main focus and added in monkeys, leopards and elephants.

I chose the colours blue, green, yellow and pink because they work so beautifully together and you can see by the images.
I even organized customized animal print donuts, because why the heck not!

My suppliers were absolutely phenomenal and will definitely continue to support them.

A special mention is, Kerryn, from The Arty Party.
Her attention to detail and working off my brief was impeccable. When I opened the box, I couldn’t believe my eyes and how I haven’t used her before.
Thank you Kerryn for offering your beautiful talent to be displayed in my home on special occasions like this. I cannot recommend you enough!

Suppliers:
Balloons : Yolo party shop
Stationary : The Arty party
Donuts : Krispy Kreme

Wood fire and a homemade pizza, YES!

Meet, The Pizza Braai!

When it comes to our weekends spent at home, we always love a good braai and we never need an excuse to use our pizza braai for scrumptious homemade pizzas.

Wood fire and a home made pizza, what more could you ask for?

This pizza braai is by far the best birthday gift I have bought my hubby, the excitement when he received it was as expected, he was so thrilled we made pizzas for dinner that night and we have made pizzas in it more than I can count.

The kids love it because they get to make their own pizzas and the pizza cooks within 3-5 minutes, which makes it a great family night in.

The pizza braai is made from Mild and stainless steel with a heat and rust resistant coating making it easy to clean and really the best value for money and my husband gets to light a braai so we all win!

Pizza Braai is a proudly South African product which allows family and friends to gather around the braai creating their own pizzas and they ship nationwide!

You can find out more info by following the below link to their Instagram page or visit their website to order yours today at www.pizzabraai.co.za

Makes for a wonderful birthday or Christmas gift!
