Racquel Toni Begaye
Dine design, fashion thats more than traditional.
I am a full blood Navajo from the salt clan and where the water runs. A tribal nation located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. My family heavily influenced where I am today and the choices I made, my dad was a sand painter and told stories with his artistic talents. And mother an herbalist, one with nature inspired me to be conscientious of the sustainability needed in the fashion industry. Since childhood my aunties too were sewing clothes and upcycling ways to wear what we had.
I'm an award winning couture Diné fashion designer, living in rich Albuquerque NM. Currently working in surrounding fashion shows and a upcoming documentary with Two Worlds performing art studio. Recently invited to showcase in Paris fashion week 2020(covid cancellation) and always open for new opportunities.
I design one of a kind designs. My process is inspired by traditional Navajo regalia and modern contemporary "ready to wear" today.
