3 ways to help manage pain

Wednesday, February 16

Period pain sucks.

This is the post you want to save for when you’re on your period! I’ve noted a couple of things I do to help manage period pain and have less painful periods every month.

Eat Anti- Inflammatory Foods

These foods will help relieve the inflammation you have during your period. Ginger and Turmeric in powder form or raw is a wonderful anti inflammatory. The reason we want to stick to foods that don’t cause inflammation is to reduce the amount of work the body does elsewhere. There’s a lot happening in your uterus so taking it easy and not causing disturbances like bloating can save you from cramps. Don’t worry if you do bloat that’s completely okay!

Use heat pads and warm water

Warm heat pads can promote extra circulation in areas that might be feeling pain. The more blood flow an area is getting the faster it will respond to stress and cramps!

I like to use head pads at the very first signs of cramps or back pain. The faster you can step into action the easier it’ll be for your body to self regulate without the help of pain killers.

Try Magnesium

Magnesium works to relax the muscles and since your uterus is a muscle you will be able to help discomfort by taking it. It’s helped my cramps drastically when I’ve had them!

Take Magnesium at the first sight of discomfort. The longer you wait to treat symptoms the harder it will be to feel pain free. It’s faster to fix a small problem than a big problem.
