Welcome to Waënelin’s wee world!
Hi everyone! I’m a published French poet, amateur photographer, graphic designer and painter, currently focusing on poetry and photography. I’ve been writing poetry since forever, but only since September 2020 in English. Writing in another language is a fascinating challenge. It sharpens my creativity in different ways, while allowing me to improve my English. When I started posting on Instagram, I didn’t expect such a great response to my poems; it’s been amazing and heartwarming.
My first poetry book, gathering 20 years of French poetry, just got published!

Besides that... A few things I love: horses, nature, tea, chocolate, books, and my cat. Basically, you put me on a horse in nature, or on a chair with a book, a cup of tea and my cat, and I’m happy.
A few things I hate: hypocrisy, Brussels sprouts, and... that’s it. I don’t hate much.

“Autumn Light” (sold)
Acrylic on canvas, 40x60cm, © Sev Waënelin 2016. This was my first painting, or at least my first after a 20 year interruption (I used to paint a little as a teen). Anyway it felt like a first, because I was discovering acrylics, which are so different than oils! I honestly hated the result, but people liked it.
“Hope”
“Hope”, acrylic on canvas, Sev Waënelin 2017. This was the second painting I made. I struggled with everything: the palette knife (first time using it), the medium (acrylics dry so fast!)... The final result was light-years away from what I had in mind when I started. “Hope” came to me as an obvious name when it was finished.

“Pensées en blanc”
FOR SALE. These “Pansies on white” are also “Thoughts in white”: the word has a double meaning in French. This was a work on textures and whites, with touches of gold. Many subtle shade variations don’t show up on the picture.
