Curiosity killed the cat,” Fesgao remarked, his dark eyes unreadable. Aly rolled her eyes. Why did everyone say that to her? “People always forget the rest of the saying,” she complained. “‘And satisfaction brought it back.”

I am so glad you’re here, whether you intend to take after the cat or whether you’re simply browsing through, welcome!

My name, is Arleny Acosta-Sanchez. I am a 20 year old college student born and raised in Elizabeth, New Jersey. During my childhood I indulged in endless play, I was nurtured, loved, cared for. I was healthy and disciplined, a well behaved kid, but alas, no one thing is ever perfect. In retrospect, I was lacking a major component: the ability to speak freely. Living in a Caribbean household didn’t leave much room for self expression. As I grew older I sunk deeper into my traits. I was shy, quiet, and knee deep in comfort zones.

This year (2021) I turned 20, and I have to say the feeling that consumed me was all but expected. I experienced a pressing mix of disbelief and stagnancy. I was doing the same things, following the same patterns, practicing the same routines. Deep down I was aching for novelties, but I remained fearful and doubted myself endlessly. My heart constantly reminded me of what I already knew...that I was a coward, afraid of change, too comfortable for my own good. And for a little while I was okay with that, I’d be the reserved, silent girl everyone always knew.

I understood that sooner or later I’d have to build up the courage to grab my own life by the horns. What was I waiting for? Im not sure, but here I am now, amending old notions and hunting to thrive.

There is no shell you can’t break out of!
