Hi, I’m Smed!

I’m an authorised marriage celebrant and MC living in St Kilda. I became a celebrant after marriage equality passed and absolutely love meeting couples, creating ceremonies and making a fun, easy day for you.

I already loved getting involved and helping out at weddings. And now I get to provide a service that involves sharing love, hearing about how couples met, and micro managing details about entrance songs and colour schemes.

My mission is:

- to make it easy to get the legal stuff done

- to make a ceremony that celebrates you, as high- or low-key as you are

My favourite thing is inventing new types of commitment rituals that modernise our ideas about marriage.

My wedding song request is always Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.

All packages include ceremony travel within 10kms of Melbourne city and digital consultation session.

Just (Legally!) Married - from $400

Short and sweet and to the point, perfect for low-key couples who want to get to the good stuff, or couples seeking an easy elopement. This package includes all the preparation, vows, and paperwork to be legally married. I arrive at your ceremony, get you hitched and then get on my way so you can start the party!

Your Mate On The Mic - from $650

This package is an easy and affordable choice for couples who would like to have a friend host their ceremony and act as a celebrant. I provide training of all legal requirements, traditional ceremony practices and public speaking to you, your fiancé(e) and your chosen host(s) in preparation of your dream ceremony. An optional extra is an in-person rehearsal of the whole shebang prior to the big day. At the ceremony, I assist the host as much as you would like with housekeeping, crowd control and hosting duties, and provide the services that you are legally required to have a celebrant perform. The rest is up to you and your host!

Forever Yours - from $900

This package includes all the legal requirements pre- and post-wedding, as well as crafting the perfect ceremony for the day.

There are a lot of things that can be included in a ceremony, including poetry, candle lighting, hand fasting, etc as well as the 'typical' stuff you might imagine from a wedding, including "I do"s, welcomes, ring exchanging, personal vows, an introduction about yourselves, and whatever stories and secrets you'd like me to share! I love modernising the expectations of what you ‘have to’ have at your wedding, and always want to hear your questions, ideas, and any weird and wonderful requests (I have had many and loved all of them).

Bells & Whistles - from $2000

This package goes beyond celebrancy and includes MC work and day-of event management. This includes multiple meetings to get to know you and your style, a carefully written ceremony that feels like you, help with writing your vows, assisting on music cues, conducting vendor coordination, set-up and pack down assistance as well as being the on-the-spot go-to for all those tricky questions from guests, photographers, and drunk uncles, so you can sit back and enjoy the day.

When you book with me, the easy part is that I am always available and in contact for texts, Facebook messages, insta DMs, whatever. There are lots of little things that can come up during planning (e.g. "oh I just realised I want to do a special shoutout to so-and-so for travelling from so far away", "I want to change witnesses last minute", and lots of "I want to do this thing but is it possible???").

I'm always happy to answer any types of questions or just listen to your ideas. I love chatting weddings!
