FAQ

Floating SOUND BATH in a hammock / SOUND BATH on cloud lounger

WHAT IS SOUND HEALING?

Sound Healing is an ancient healing practice that uses sounds of varying healing frequencies to restore one’s mind, body and spirit back to a state of balance. These healing or therapeutic frequencies and sounds are delivered via, live sessions and a variety of tools or instruments that have a deep penetrating effect on the receiver, promoting healing and well-being.  When vibrations in the sound waves travel through the body, they promote circulation, energy flow, rejuvenation and has been linked to reduction in stress and anxiety.

Taking a holistic approach to relaxation and healing, Sound Baths offer an escape from the everyday stresses of modern-day life, promoting self-discovery and reflection by placing the body into a deeply immersive, meditative state.

This is not just an auditory experience - it’s like receiving a full body sound massage!

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A SOUND BATH?

Each Sound Bath is different in its construction, and each person interprets each experience differently. More than often, people coming to a Sound Bath for the first time are encouraged to come to the session with no expectations at all - simply be open to the experience.

The Sound Bathing experience generally begins with each person lying down on a mat or cloud lounger or guided into a hammock safely, often with cushions, soft blankets and eye pillows in a dimly lit room, sometimes accompanied by therapeutic themed visual projections, to set the mood and conditions easy for one to ease into total comfort and relaxation. Thereafter attendees will be guided with a light and mindful practice that require them to actively listen and simultaneously focus on their own breathing and relaxing their body.

This will gradually quieten their mind and prepare them to reap the most out of the Sound Bath.  The remainder of the experience is filled with different sounds and frequencies being introduced in succession.

I use a variety of sound healing instruments such as Gong, Alchemy Crystal Bowls, Crystal Lyre, Therapy Harp, Euphone, Metallophone, Chimes, Drum, or Bells to create the immersive sonic space.

Every person experiences Sound Bathing differently. However attendees will most likely feel vibrations surrounding their body as each instrument creates its own frequency that will help guide them to a meditative or shift them into a state of deep relaxation or an altered state of consciousness, or they may even find themselves falling asleep, which is fine. Others may experience emotional release. These sound waves are known to trigger the creation of theta brain waves, which are associated with deep relaxation and healing. Attendees are encourage to let emotions flow and accept the release.

A regular sound bath will usually last 60 – 90 minutes. At the end of the session, I will guide attendees to slowly return to their awareness, accompanied with simple stretching to release any tension in their body for lying relatively still on a mat, cloud lounger or in a hammock for the entire session. Generally most will wake up feeling refreshed, well rested and rejuvenated.

I AM NEW TO SOUND HEALING, WHICH SOUND HEALING INSTRUMENT EXPERIENCE SHOULD I ATTEND?

Each Sound healing instrument is unique and has its own unique tone, timbre and harmonic character. Different people really do sometimes hear the same sounds in entirely different ways. Their bodies resonate and react differently to the different sound frequencies from the varying Sound Healing instruments too. Even your experience each time will be different as it is very dependent on your physical, emotional, mental state and also the environmental energies then.

So embarking on a Sound Healing journey is a transformational experience that is unique to yourself and that you have to find out personally.

I would strongly suggest that you try the different Sound Healing instruments sessions for a few times and you should be able to naturally get a fair verdict yourself.  From there, you can then use this awareness to attend the sessions accordingly to your preference.

Come with an open heart and mind, and if you feel comfortable enough to share your experiences with me, I will be happy to provide better guidance from there if needed.

IS THERE ANYTHING I NEED TO PREPARE BEFORE OR AFTER THE SESSION?

Come in comfortable and loose attire. Refrain from wearing any jewelry/accessories with sharp pointed edges or clothes with zip that may potentially tear or damage the hammock or the cloud lounger. Bring along a jacket, shawl or blanket to cover yourself especially if you feel cold easily. You are highly recommended to bring anything that makes you feel comfortable such as your own eye pillow, and /or cushion in order to enjoy the session thoroughly.

Hydrate yourselves well and more than usual before and after the session, so feel free to bring along your own water bottle or bottled water.

If wish to cleanse and recharge your Crystals with the Sound Bath, take them along with you to the session.

As much as possible, refrain from consuming alcohol 6 hours prior and after the session as it may affect the effectiveness of your Sound Healing session.

Kindly arrive 15- 20 mins before start of a group session to allow yourself time to settle down and experience the entire duration of the session.

Depending on the nature and the venue of the session, there may be some sight differences in the set of guidelines, you can always refer to them in the booking confirmation email sent to you.

I would encourage you to simply come with an open heart and mind without any expectations and go with the flow.

DO YOU FACILITATE PRIVATE, CORPORATE OR LARGE GROUP SESSION?

Yes, I do. You are welcome to contact me to discuss further or obtain more information.

I AM PREGNANT, CAN I ATTEND THE SOUND HEALING / SOUND BATH SESSION?

Research has shown that sound healing is incredibly beneficial to receive whilst being pregnant. Not only does the mother reap the benefits, even the baby will enjoy it too.  However, it is recommended for mother-to-be to attend the sessions after the 1st trimester (3 months) of pregnancy. Please inform us about this so that we can make the appropriate and necessary preparations to receive you for the session.

WHO CAN COME FOR THE SESSION? CAN I BRING MY CHILDREN ALONG?

Sound Therapy is generally good for everyone, no matter what your age and your condition. Even if you would just like an hour out for relaxation and time for yourself, it can be the perfect remedy for you.

However if you are joining the group session, it is not recommended for children under the age of 9 and below unless you can ensure that your children can lie still in the hammock or on the mat without creating any disturbance to other attendees throughout the session. This is in consideration of the comfort for the rest of attendees.

If you wish to enjoy a Sound Healing / Sound Bath session with your young children, family or friends in a cozy personal and private setting, you always choose to book a private session with me.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

Sound Baths are intended to facilitate healing and relaxation so it is generally safe for most people. However as with most things, each experience is unique to the individual as people react and respond to Sound Healing differently. Some people may experience cold symptoms or tiredness after the session, some experience increased energy, some may involve the release of uncomfortable feelings. Any adverse effects such as cold symptoms or headaches are likely a good thing. As blockages are released, it is possible to experience the release as unpleasant. In this sense, the uncomfortable feeling is not a negative but part of the integration process and will subside. It is better to observe the sensations to encourage the process of letting go. This is the body’s natural way of releasing unwanted toxins, shifting what needs to change and connecting to their inner selves. They allow the body to come into a place of balance.

Bottom line: If listening to these therapeutic frequencies makes people feel better, whether they have a broken leg, multiple sclerosis, or cancer, anything that puts that person in a more calm state, will promote better healing.

It is important to note that Sound Therapy is never a replacement for any proven treatment, medical advice or care, nor is it guaranteed to cure, treat, or prevent any health condition. It is often a great complementary practice to your doctor’s regimen.

WHO IS NOT SUITABLE TO JOIN A SOUND HEALING SESSION?

Anyone that suffers from Epilepsy or other seizures especially caused by sound/ music (known as musico-genic epilepsy).

Anyone that has a pacemaker or any other electrical device/ implants.

Anyone that has metal plates fitted, or implants (excluding tooth fillings).

Anyone with conditions triggered by sound.

Anyone with severe mental health conditions, such as paranoid schizophrenia, psychosis, bi-polar (if unmanaged) or if you have disclosed suicidal thoughts or murderous tendencies.

As always, if you are unsure about anything, it is always best to seek the advice from your doctor. You may join if your doctor has NO CONCERNS, about your participation in the Sound Healing / Sound Bath session.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU ATTEND A SOUND BATH SESSION?

There is no hard and fast rule nor overdose on Sound Healing. It is really much dependent on your needs – that is you are welcome to join a session as and when you feel you need one.

Generally, 1-2 sessions per month are recommended. However, if you are experiencing emotional, physical or mental challenges that need to be addressed or you are facing a heavy load of stress on a daily basis or you suffer from insomnia, then weekly sessions are better. Also, if you are just starting out, then go for 4 sessions spaced 1-2 weeks apart.

Basically, it is best if you have regular sessions rather than occasional ones. That is because regular sessions offer more long term sustained benefits for good health balance and maintenance.

IS THERE A WEIGHT LIMIT FOR THE HAMMOCK AND CLOUD LOUNGER? WHAT IF I HAVE NO EXPERIENCE HANDLING THEM?

The hammock can support a maximum weight of 900kg - Almost the weight of a baby elephant! So you really have nothing to worry about.

All that is required of you is to lay comfortably inside the hammock. You will be guided to enter and exit the hammock safely with the height manageable for you. If not, the height can also be adjusted on the spot to suit you. So fret not, even if you have zero experience with hammock.

As for the cloud lounger, it has a ergonomic design that is not only superbly comfortable, it also provides full body support and protect the spine up to a maximum weight of 150kg.

Zero effort is needed, all you have to do is to sit, relax and lay down comfortably on it. It is really that simple!
