Maps are a testament to our imperfections. People collect maps for different reasons. Out of curiosity and sometimes for the aesthetic. I collect maps for the sentiments of history. I am fascinated by men and women who dedicated their lives charting the endless seas filled with wonder. I am inspired by the art, and the means by how one such artwork was made. The engravings move me and often to look at how history is written differently. I must be mad to find myself humbled by a quaint sheet whose designs need not words to inspire me.
