HTBC Jr NBA/WNBA Program

Jr. NBA/WNBA Basketball England League
The Jr. NBA/WNBA Basketball England League is an exciting partnership between the National Basketball League (NBA) and Basketball England, The Jr. NBA League was created in 2014 for 11-13-year-old (Year 7 and Year 8) boys and girls to play basketball and represent one of the 30 NBA teams. The league is organised and operated by Basketball England in partnership with the NBA.  Alongside this, Basketball England also delivers the Jr. WNBA, launched in 2024, it is a girls-only schools competition for the same age group, following the same concept but with teams representing WNBA franchises.

Huddersfield Town Basketball Club is led by one of the most successful and decorated coaches in Northern England. With a career defined by an uncompromising "system" and a relentless winning culture, with over a decade dismantling the regions' most established basketball dynasties.

A Legacy of Excellence

Over a ten-year tenure at the helm of Huddersfield New College, Matthew Bellanfonte transformed the program into an untouchable powerhouse, achieving a feat rarely seen in the sport: four consecutive undefeated College League titles. This dominance extended to the national stage, where he secured Back-to-Back National League Championships, including a historic undefeated season, and a British College Sport (BCS) Cup Championship.

The "Giant Killer" Pedigree

Our leadership is forged in the heat of elite competition. Matthew Bellanfonte holds a storied record of tactical victories over the most respected figures in British and International basketball, including:

• Marc Steutel (Newcastle/GB Senior Men’s Head Coach): Systematically defeated on his own home court.

• Tony Hanson MBE (UConn/Mohawks Legend): Taken down during a historic undefeated run.

• Voise Winters (NBA/BBL Legend): Overcome through superior tactical execution.

• Brian Aldridge (City of Leeds): Defeated to clinch the National League title undefeated.
