• What styles of Yoga do you offer?
I teach Vinyasa Flows, Restorative & Yin Classes. Vinyasa is one of the main styles of yoga and great for all levels, some classes can bring the heat especially when we practice a power flow (energetic and sweaty) and more relaxing types of yoga like Yin & Restorative, perfect for releasing tension, stresses and aiding mental health.
• I am a beginner, what style should I start with?
All classes are beginner friendly and there are so many different styles of yoga it really depends on what you enjoy and what you’d like to work on. However, in Vinyasa Yoga you’ll learn how to move & flow with the breath, preparing you for other styles of yoga.
• What are the benefits of practicing Yoga?
Practising yoga has loads of physical benefits: it creates a flexible, toned
& strong body. Increases your energy
& metabolism. It improves your mental health, making you happier, more balanced & calmer. Yoga also boosts your self-confidence & helps you to focus your energy.
• I’m a complete beginner, what should I expect?
In your initial private class I will carry out a body assessment, studying your body shape & posture. This will ensure your classes are tailored specifically for you. All classes begin with breathing exercises to balance the hemispheres of your brain & promote mindfulness. Depending on the style of class will build upon the speed, music & benefits however all classes end with a relaxing shavasana & meditation.
• How often should I practice?
Even if you practice once a week, you’ll feel the difference. The more time you dedicate to your practice the more you will feel & see the benefits but focus on, & be proud of what you do, rather than focusing on what you think you should be doing.
• How do I know if I’m doing it right?
Always remember our bodies & bone structures are all very different so there isn’t just one ‘right’ way to do a pose. It’s about finding out what works for you. Developing this body awareness takes practice so practicing with a teacher where I can provide extra instructions & variations will ensure your keeping safe & feeling the benefits.
