I believe in this almost to a fault at times. As a mom of six, a master Raw Food Chef, a world influencer and a successful black female entrepreneur recently diagnosed and now living undetectable HIV positive I have no choice but to believe it. For years I was the go to woman when someone needed a prayer a breakthrough or merely an objective here I was that girl I always found so much joy in being a non-judgmental sounding board for others you see, in my upbringing I was able to acquire 3 very special gifts.”

Karabelo Hope Makale

“Hey sisters! My name is Karabelo Hope Makale and I'm from South Africa and I am the proud founder of the Women × Empowerment campaign (@womenxempowerment on IG and Women x Empowerment on YouTube) and also the founder of the Helpers Of Kroonstad NPO (@helpers_of_kroonstad on IG) and my main account is @fierce.goddess on IG and @fiercegoddess2 on Twitter.”

My Women × Empowerment Campaign:

“I started it on the 13th of October 2018 when I was fourteen years old and a lot of people thought or said or asked me how I'm going to make my campaign a success when I'm just a fourteen year old black girl from South Africa but I showed them that with the right motivation, encouragement and passion anything is possible. And in my journey of women empowerment I have learnt that we all are different and that we have to support one another, not only as sisters by blood but as sisters by humanity.”

My Helpers of Kroonstad NPO:

“First off all I'd like to explain what Kroonstad is, Kroonstad is a small town that I grew up in and still do live in and Kroonstad is in the province called The Free state and The Free state is a province within the country of South Africa. I started my NPO in order to reach out to people and to try to help the less fortunate and us as the Helpers of Kroonstad team know that we cannot change everyone's lives, but everyone can change someone's life. I started my NPO on the 25th of February 2019 and I was still fourteen because I had only turned fifteen on the 8th of May.”

“In my life I have went through a lot of difficult times. I was depressed at the beginning of 2018 and also dealt with and stress and that was a difficult time in my life, but I made it through and with both my NPO and my campaign I vowed to help everyone that is going through something similar to what I was going through. My favorite quote is "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others" by David Snasel.”

“I will impact the world by making other girls and women realize that they do have a voice or voices and that they do belong! My campaign is about empowering women of all races, shapes and sizes and my NPO is about trying to create a change in the lives of the less fortunate.”

“The advice that I would give another woman that is trying to get to the same place as me is that a lot of people will try to bring you down, some people will act like they are your friends when they really aren't, but all you have to do is stay true to yourself and to your dreams and hopes.”

“Some of the goals that I have accomplished this year are being able to reach out to over 20 women that felt lost and I did a pad drive for young teenagers and for underprivileged schools that don't have access to sanitary products.”

“I am aware of women's rights and this might sound a bit cliché, but I believe that a woman's right is a human's right. And I feel like one thing that needs to be brought up more is equality and freedom (by freedom I mean freedom of speech, of freedom of religion and freedom of expression).”

“One funny thing that actually happened quite recently is that just because I wasn't showing interest in this one guy he thought that I was a misandrist (someone who doesn't necessarily like men) and I told him that I'm a feminist and being a feminist means that you are simply taking part in the notion that women are people and that women do deserve better.”

“Something else that I would like to share is that I'm incredibly thankful to all these opportunities that you guys are making for us or giving us young feminists.”

“Thank you queens for taking the time to read my article, stay blessed.”

Sincerely,

Karabelo Makale.

Laura Mcdowell

“My name is Laura McDowell, I was born on 11/1988 in Medellin, Colombia but moved to Atlanta, GA when I was 11 years old. I have an amazing husband and two beautiful kids. I own a fitness and self-love company call Viva La Recovery. I started a support group and (@vivalarecovery) for me and all of those that need love and support around the world or just around the block. I have battled an eating disorder, depression, and anxiety. During my recovery, I found that working out, working on myself, loving food, and enjoying life is the most important thing. Since then I started the mission to coach and help those around me that want and need my help. I discover that with a healthy balance of nutrition, exercise, and laughs we can reach our goals and we can become our best selves. I welcome you all to my Journey. I encourage you to walk with me side by side on this new adventure and never forget that you are not alone, you are beautiful, you are worth it, and you are enough.”

My Favorite quote is:

“Don't ask yourself what the world needs, ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

– Howard Washington Thurman”

“I want to impact the world by sharing love, joy, strength, a shoulder to cry on, and empower those that don’t see their light or strength. During my journey, I have been to the lowest of the low and I have encountered that all we need to be happy is to love and trust ourselves. We need to balance our lives show the good and the bad about ourselves, but still, know that we are enough. I want to empower those that surround me to work on them self, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I want to help those not only with an eating disorder, depression, and anxiety. I want to help anyone that is looking for self-love. In the end, we are here to help and encourage one another.”

“I believe my platform and my business will impact the world, one person at a time to show them how important is self-love. How caring for ourselves is not selfish, but rewarding. How once we love ourselves, even the flaws we can conquer anything. In my business you will not only find a partner and a friend, you will find a balance way to find yourself and the best for you.”

“For anyone out there that is currently battling low self-esteem, an eating disorder, depression, or anxiety, I want to say that you are not alone. They are so many people feeling the same, yet we feel ashamed of sharing our story. Even at the darkest times, you can recover. You can achieve the piece that you are looking for. We need to stop comparing ourselves and seeing our lives thru social media and just embracing the beauty that surrounds us.”

“I believe that the most important goal I achieve this year is self-love and happiness. I have reached a place where I know I am enough. I have found a passion that has helped me recover and I can wait to be able to share all that love with the people that surround me.”

“I believe as women we have the right to go after our dreams, be treated as equal, and have the opportunity to speak our minds. We have the tenacity to demonstrate our greatest potential and sometimes we are left behind because they feel we are not enough. I believe that the world needs to realize that we have the power to achieve the maximum potential that can benefit the world. We just need to have the opportunity to be heard and to be able to show our superpowers.”

“One funny story about me is that I tried to bake a red velvet cake for the first time. I was excited and motivated. As I started to add all my ingredients, I cracked the eggs and the ingredients started to turn red. I immediately freaked out and though the eggs had blood. I throw away the mixture and started all over again. As I added the egg, I saw it happening again. The first thing I did was call my mother, as she laughed and snorted, she said it’s a RED velvet cake, you silly girl. Ha-ha”

“To anyone reading this, I just want to say that you are enough. We all have a purpose in our lives and it is time to let that light shine. Diamonds are made under pressure and oh what an amazing diamond we are. Do not let fear, worry, other people, standards, and yourself hold you back. Go out there and conquer the world.”

Ticy Davis

1. Introduce yourself. Tell us where you’re from, your favorite quote, and what you do!

“Hi, my name is Ticy Davis pronounced Tysie. I am from a small town in Louisiana that goes by the name of Raceland, and I am a 42-year young first-time grandmother and an Independent Arbonne Consultant.”

“My personal favorite quote is one of my own that relates to my life…”

“Just because you have an autoimmune disease doesn’t mean your life is over.” -Ticy Davis

2. How will you impact the world as a woman?

“I will impact the world with my life story.”

2b. What are some challenges and obstacles you faced throughout your journey to get where you are today?

“At the age of 14 years of age I was raped by someone I thought I could trust, teased, picked on, and bullied all of my childhood life until I was in high school where I became pregnant at the age of 17 and quit. I was also born with an autoimmune disease entitled Myasthenia Gravis which is the weakness of all voluntary muscles. I have had surgery for my MG from having slings put in my upper lids (Front Sling Surgery) so that when I raise my eyebrows my eyes will open permitting me to be able to see properly. I had that surgery at the age of 19, a few months after I had my son. Yes, I was a teenage mother. I got pregnant at the age of 17 and had him at 18 the best thing that could have ever happened to me. Then at the age of 24 I had open chest surgery to remove my Thymus Gland to help lessen the amount of negative antibodies that are released into my body. This did wonders for me for when I turned 26 I was in remission and haven’t had any issues with my MG since, at least not anything serious to where I can’t walk, talk, or chew which are all things that can happen to someone with MG due to those muscles being “over” used which can cause them to be extremely weak. (you can find more information about Myasthenia Gravis on WebMD.com) Living a life with three autoimmune diseases can be very trying but I have never let any of them stop me. Myasthenia Gravis, Hypothyroidism, & Graves’ Disease (extension from thyroid disease) on top of that I have asthma, and heart failure. I have always been on top of my life. I have never let these things stop me from doing what I wanted to or felt was necessary to make me happy and take care of my child.”

3. How will your platform, business, organization, product impact the world?

“My platform, business, and products will impact the world in a way to help them see a better way of life. I stand by the products that I sell because of what we put in them and what we stand for. All of our products are plant based, organic, vegan friendly, and gluten free. Which is a good thing for anyone but an even better thing for those of us who are like me and have autoimmune diseases because most illnesses start in the “gut” and if we take the time to invest in our health and begin to take the proper steps to heal our gut our health and life could grow to be so much more healthier from the inside out.”

3b. What should we look for in it?

“In our products you can look for safe, clean, healthy, and beneficial products that are better for our clients and the planet itself. We are becoming a certified B corporation business. In our products you can look for the healthiest of the healthy when it comes to our body and the world. We want you to see that as a community you can have the best life possible from the inside out and our mission is to empower people to thrive to be the best version of themselves. We not only want to help you with your health and skin being healthy we also want to help those who may not be able to physically leave home make an income to do things that they may want to do in their spare time. We are not just a business we are a family.”

4. What’s something you would share with another woman who’s trying to get to the same place as you? Any advice to tell her?

“I would tell any woman whose trying to get to a point of peace in life as where I am is to always be true to herself. Never allow anyone rather it be family, friend, or spouse stop them from achieving their dreams and aspirations. I would help her to understand that married, engaged, or dating you always have to have a life outside of that of your own, to not lose yourself in life. We as women have a power unlike any other on this earth and it’s up to us to always tap into that power and use to make a life for ourselves be it alone or with a partner/family. Also, Never and I do mean Never allow anyone to make you feel less than the Queen God made you to be. Forgive yourself for any past mistakes (and future ones) and if you are like me and have any kind of autoimmune disease listen to your body and your doctor but advocate for yourself, do your research and once again listen to your body and take the time to invest in your health. The same way we as women invest in making sure we look good, smell good, dress well, and have the hardest hairstyles and/or wigs we as women need to take the time to invest in our health and our families health at all times. Just because soul food is good for the soul doesn’t mean it’s good for your health.”

5. What are some goals you have accomplished this year?

“Honestly, this year the biggest goal I have accomplished for myself which may not seem like a lot to some was stepping out on faith and starting my own home-based business and also reclaiming my power and walking away from a five-year narcissistic-emotionally abusive relationship that I should have left over 2 years ago.”

6. Are you aware of women’s rights? What does women’s rights mean to you? What are some things you feel need to be brought to the world’s attention today?

“As a child that was born in the 70’s there isn’t much that I remember personally but I do indeed know of women rights and I have to say that being a disabled woman women rights mean the world to me they mean that even though I am a woman, a disabled woman I am still able to go out and work I am still able to go out and do the job of any man and make the same if not more than said man. I have equal rights as a woman to do whatever I put my mind to do and this will allow me to teach my beautiful first granddaughter the exact same thing. Women rights implements the fact that there is nothing and I do mean nothing on this earth that as a woman I can’t do.”

7. What’s one funny thing that happen to you this year?

“Well, the funniest thing as a 42-year-old woman that I can say that happened to me is a boy my son’s age (Twenty four) made a pass at me and was so serious but I couldn’t do nothing but laugh. I thought it was very cute, strange but cute and well I let him down and eventually had to block him off of my social media because he was a very persistent child.”

8. Anything else you want to share with us? You have the floor queen!

“I am a college graduate with a double bachelor’s in Psychology and Business Leadership. I am also a disabled woman and have been disabled since birth… I have never let the fact that I am “Uniquely Made” by God stop me from doing anything I set my mind to do. Granted I have been my own worst enemy and critic but we all go through our own set trials and tribulations in life but that doesn’t mean stop it just means we have to fight harder for what God has for us… I love to read, (working on my own book) write stories, and I have an addiction to social media according to my family.”

Danielle Ellington

1. Introduce yourself. Tell us where you’re from, your favorite quote, and what you do!

“My name is Danielle Ellington. I reside in the Baltimore area of Maryland. I am a certified professional boudoir photographer. I am in the business to empower other women to love their body inside and out.”

2. How will you impact the world as a woman? What are some challenges and obstacles? You faced throughout your journey to get where you are today?

“I have gone thru major health issues in my life. But I think 3 years ago, when I was diagnosing with breast cancer was the hardest for me. Everything went so fast, but I ended up with doing a full mastectomy on both of my breast. With this I had to learn to love myself inside and out. I am not perfect, and I still go thru it but I can say that I have made it and that I am still alive to see my kids. My mission is to let every woman know that they are beautiful no matter what they have gone thru. No matter what illness, abuse, and depression she has, she is blessed.”

3. How will your platform, business, organization, product impact the world? What should we look for in it?

“My mission is to provide statement and powerful photos that will make a difference. It will tell a story of that person and what they have gone thru. Nothing will silent anymore. We have to speak up and this will show in my photos I take. This is why my business name is called: “I Am What I Am Images””

4. What's something you would share with another woman who's trying to get to the same place as you? Any advice to tell her?

“Stop thinking negative thoughts about yourself. The more you say it the more you manifest it. Yes, you may have curves, bruises, cuts, scrapes, stiches but every mark tells a story. You’re story. It will not be heard if you are silent, so speak up!”

6. Are you aware of women's rights? What do women’s rights mean to you? What are some things you feel need to be brought to the world's attention today?

“I think what needs to be brought to the world’s attention today is to have equal pay in the workplace. There are still companies that do not do this and especially do not do this for women of color. I could have the best experience, but the Caucasian man will still get paid more as well as the Caucasian women. I think that all nationality should have equal pay!”

7. What's one funny thing that happens to you this year?

“I always tell my mom that I get it from her “I get it from my momma”. Well I was talking with my eight-year-old about how handsome he was before he went off to his new school, and he threw it right back at me, which thru me off. “I get it from my mommy”.”

8. Anything else you want to share with us? You have the floor queen!

“I am a mother of 2 young boys- 8 and 12, wife of a disable husband but I still wake up and thank God for making me and letting me see another day.”

1. Introduce yourself. Tell us where your from, your favorite quote, and what you do!

“My name is B.Elae and I am a poet, author, and victim and social services advocate from South Bend, Indiana. Small city, but so much talent. Selecting just one quote is extremely hard for me, but if it's okay, I could share my top 3:

- "You wanna fly, you got to give up the sh*t that weighs you down."- Toni Morrison

- "There are years that ask questions, and years that answer." -Zora Neale Hurston, "Their Eyes Were Watching God"

- "Having to try again doesn't make you any less of a warrior."- B.Elae

2. How will you impact the world as a woman? What are some challenges and obstacles you faced throughout your journey to get where you are today?

“My goal, my mission, is to reach women, and people in general, who feel alone and unheard through my writings. I want my stories to offer some comfort to the women and persons who've experienced similar things and also women and persons who've faced much alone including mental health, healing, and finding ways to love themselves again which can be so extremely hard when you've been programmed to ignore and loathe yourself. Additionally, I will run a hotline that will allow survivors of abuse to speak with someone who can comfort them in the midst of their immediate emergency, and then, provide them with references within their community of which they can contact and turn to for further assistance. I also plan to continue my journey as a Victim Services Advocate and travel internationally to assist survivors in different regions of the world.”

3. How will your platform, business, organization, product impact the world? What should we look for in it?

“I'd hope you'd look for raw honesty and intent to support. Just a place for people-for the loud, the silent, the recovering, the healing-to be. I want to help in every dimension I'm focusing on. I want to bring awareness and discussions on how we can be and do better. I want to bring humanness and empathy. Understanding and willingness to learn as well.”

4. What's something you would share with another woman who's trying to get to the same place as you? Any advice to tell her?

“It may truly be a lonely journey, sometimes, and it may not always be the 'prettiest' of journeys (whatever that may mean to you), but please just keep trying and going.”

5. What are some goals you have accomplished this year?

“I've actually been featured on a few blogs and online zines so that's pretty exciting! I'm also releasing my second poetry and letters book this year as well along with B.Elae merchandise.”

6. Are you aware of women's rights? What does women's rights mean to you? What are some things you feel need to be brought to the world's attention today?

“I am absolutely aware! I'm also aware that it's something we shouldn't be fighting for as we should already be treated with significance and value. It's sad, really...sad as us fighting for our rights to exist and be treated fairly because of the hue of our skin as well. Women's rights is more than just being treated fairly; it's acknowledging the right to privacy and boundaries. It's respecting boundaries. It's breaking the "ideal" images of "dream women" and what we "should" look like. What we "should" wear. Where we "should" work. What our titles "should" be. It's just so much more. I'd like to bring more awareness to mental health and services for women of color, and the issues within women's movements that are supposed to be inclusive but are still extremely selective as well.”

7. What's one funny thing that happen to you this year?

“Honestly, a lot of funny things have happened, actually. I'm not so sure about my luck, but I can tell you that running from insects from the south...at night...through mud...doesn't always end well!”

8. Anything else you want to share with us? You have the floor queen!

“I just would like for anyone interested to check out my work and keep a look out for my book. I'm really excited and would love to share it with all of you. You can read my pieces on Facebook/Instagram at: @b.elae “

Caroline & Erika

Caroline & Erika

1. Introduce yourself. Tell us where your from, your favorite quote, and what you do!

“Hi! Caroline and Erika here. We are the founders of She Smiles. We reside in Arizona and are currently and heavily focusing on helping and teaching other women how to become the dreams, aspirations, gifts and abilities that they have always had. We desire to connect other women to each other; to motivate them to press on and empower them that they can do those things. They are limited by the only limits they set themselves. Over the years we have both seen such a disconnect with people knowing one thing and doing differently out of the fear of all the what ifs. It has led to people becoming depressed and irritable but not wanting or knowing how to say, “I need help”. This is very true for women. We grab hold of our roles and our identity slowly disappears and then we become more and more upset over time, not realizing we are the ones that built the prison. One of Erika’s fave quotes “when you become a leader, success is all about growing others”. One of Caroline’s “if you want to go quickly, go alone but if you want to go far, go together.”

2. How will you impact the world as a woman? What are some challenges and obstacles you faced throughout your journey to get where you are today?

“We both have a desire to provide assistance in the mental health arena. That is so needed right now. What is also needed is that we offer support to so many women who have become content with being caterpillars when they are supposed to be butterflies.”

3. How will your platform, business, organization, product impact the world? What should we look for in it?

“We network with women all over the world. On the surface it appears to be local only but in truth we have learned that we inspire women across the globe. Look for more and more women smiling because they are finally living out their purpose, smiling because they are finally helping other women instead of hating on other women.”

4. What's something you would share with another woman who's trying to get to the same place as you? Any advice to tell her?

“We would ask her what her one thing (or things) would be if money, and time were limitless. Then we would tell her to go for it and help her brainstorm ideas in how to start. If we know other women that can help her, we would connect them. The take away is that there’s nothing stopping you but you.”

5. What are some goals you have accomplished this year?

“We have finally begun to walk in our purposes. She Smiles encompasses and pushes us to do so. “

6. Are you aware of women's rights? What does women's rights mean to you? What are some things you feel need to be brought to the world's attention today?

“The focus should be on repairing the hearts and minds of women. For some reason we have forgotten to just simply be ourselves, trust God, and take those steps to walk in our purpose.”

7. What's one funny thing that happen to you this year?

“We would need a year just to narrow one down. We are both wives and mothers. Erika and her hubs have 3 and Caroline and her hubs have 2.”

8. Anything else you want to share with us? You have the floor queen!

“Thank you for your time.”

LaToya Phillips

1. Introduce yourself. Tell us where your from, your favorite quote, and what you do!

“Hello, my name is LaToya Phillips and I am the Co-Founder and CEO of Phillips Technical Consulting, LLC or as known on Instagram, @PTC.SERVICES. I was born and raised on the west side of Detroit, MI. I now reside with my husband and daughter in a sunny little beach town near Fort Lauderdale, FL. PTC provides busy CEOs, Entrepreneurs and Businesses Leaders with time. How do we do that? By supplying and managing commonly needed business services focused on four major areas: Starting a business, Hiring the best, Training your tribe (employees and customers), and Empowering leaders. We act as an extension of your business, helping you to complete tasks, reach audiences, resolve problems, and relieve common stresses of today's growing business. Our goal is to equip your business for the present, while preparing your business for the future.”

Favorite quote:

“Time is an equal opportunity employer. Each human being has exactly the same number of hours and minutes every day. Rich people can't buy more hours. Scientists can't invent new minutes. And you can't save time to spend it on another day. Even so, time is amazingly fair and forgiving. No matter how much time you've wasted in the past, you still have an entire tomorrow.”

― Denis Waitley

2. How will you impact the world as a woman? What are some challenges and obstacles you faced throughout your journey to get where you are today?

“Prior to the start of PTC, I worked in corporate America for others, and over the years I honed my consulting and sales skills positioning myself amid major players and decision makers. There were many times where I was the only woman in the room. I personally closed multimillion-dollar contracts for employers, successfully managed the execution of the contracts only for my employer to provide me with very little compensation and no room for growth. I didn’t even earn 1% of the cost of the contracts I secured. All while working my butt off, resolving client issues and holding a divided team together. Exhausted and unappreciated, I didn’t even realize at the time what seed was being planted.”

“A few years later, after returning to work only two-weeks after giving birth to my premature daughter, working ridiculous hours for others as a contractor the dream started to take shape. I wanted to do work I was passionate about, to help people create the future that they only could imagine, one task at a time. Just like we were doing in our own lives. I wanted to partner with fellow leaders and work with the Fortune 500. My husband and co-founder of PTC was supportive and mirrored my desire to work remotely, from anywhere in the world and to create generational wealth for our children. So, we began to build PTC, a virtual company that allows 100% of its employees and contractors to work from anywhere in the world. We also continue to build, adding several other companies under the PTC umbrella. In the 10 years since its inception we have worked with many amazing businesses, working with more than 125 different companies including some of the elite Fortune 100.”

3. How will your platform, business, organization, product impact the world? What should we look for in it?

“This is an exciting time to be in business. Companies are moving from a traditional structure to virtually ran global communities filled with individual talents, resources and artificial intelligence. As a service industry leader, we have acquired and completed long term contracts with large corporations, government agencies and the Fortune 100. Our experiences have uniquely equipped us to help other business owners skip steps, cope with the realities of real business ownership, and avoid pitfalls that can cost them valuable time and money. Through speaking engagements, a coming book series, and learning opportunities available within our online community, we plan to help our fellow business owners change the face of business! At this time, now more than any other in history, small businesses have the ability to reach a global market, PTC can help to position organizations to compete.”

4. What's something you would share with another woman who's trying to get to the same place as you? Any advice to tell her?

“Interesting question. While still young ladies, many of us are taught that we should look pretty, be soft spoken, not to take risks but to choose a good career that will help us to take care of ourselves – in case no one else will. We get out into the business world, and we do our best, but do not advance to the level we have always aspired to. Or, if we do, it tends to be less gratifying than we first expected. To succeed in business, you have to realize that we have been put into a box. It may be a pretty box, one filled with pats on the back, “that-a-girls” and empty promises, but a beautifully decorated, embellished box. Once we realize it, then it’s time to blow that box up! “

“A successful woman in business recognizes what she brings to the table and knows how to prepare and present herself as an expert in her field. When my husband, Mark helped me to understand how men in business think, once I was able to recognize how valuable my contributions are to the businesses I support, and we blew up that box in my life, then earnings more than doubled, client lists grew, and our names and that of our company enters rooms long before we ever do. If you need help getting to this point, if you are currently in a beautifully ribboned box, if you are still trying to figure out how to leverage your skills and abilities, then we can help you!” “Don’t feel that you have to do it by yourself. Going at it alone does not make you superwoman, just exhausted. Form partnerships with those who can add value to your organizational goals, products, or services. For us, it is not a girls’ club, or a boys’ club, it’s a whoever makes you better club! We can work with you to build your organization into something different, unique, and authentic.”

5. What are some goals you have accomplished this year?

“Over the last year, we have had the opportunity to work on several projects that helped our clients to reach their business goals. Our Business Advisors have effectively coached some amazingly talented entrepreneurs as they launched new businesses. Our recruiters have secured long term employment for several skilled professionals into lucrative job positions including Design Consultants, Personal Assistants, Voiceover Artists, and Instructional Designers. We have also brokered procurement deals with learning organizations and in talent management including Road Managers for two different entertainers, Tour Security and Crisis Mitigation Specialists. We are currently in the process of redesigning our recruiting and service management platform to offer even more support to those working in this business segment.”

“Within the learning sector, our teams have been working diligently - completing two global learning programs for an oil and gas company that will help their engineers in the field stay safe and care for the earth properly. Contract compliance courses for a major transportation company were designed and launched, helping the organizations Project Managers to have an easier work experience with new and existing vendors. Our consultants spearheaded the design of learning architecture, course templates and a pilot course for a major insurance company looking to upsell their additional services to current clients. The work they completed will be used by the organization to create many more learning opportunities. PTC consultants also created microlearning modules focused on monitoring cloud services, extending product reach, and developing leaders for internal promotions for various clients. Currently, the team is working on a series of technical certification courses for the digital performance space as well as a learning series that will be featured on our website which will be specifically for our entrepreneurs! It has been a tremendous year, with two productive quarters remaining!”

6. Are you aware of women's rights? What does women's rights mean to you? What are some things you feel need to be brought to the world's attention today?

“I am aware of women’s rights. For centuries, women have been oppressed and mistreated by men of many nations. Now more and more women are demanding freedom and equality. Being within the inner circle of major business owners and the wealthy, it isn’t hard to see that women do not typically make out as well as men due to job discrimination against them. Women’s liberation has opened many doors and crashed through many a glass ceiling. Sisterhood creates a feeling of solidarity, trust, and love which can all be beautiful. But Sisterhood seems to break down when women today gain too much power or come in contact with other successful women leaders. I’ve witnessed several bitter power struggles between women business leaders, with these sisters stabbing each other in the back, worse than any men I’ve seen in the workplace. What happened to all that love and sisterhood?”

“There are many eloquent, ethical and excellent women leaders in the workplace today. But there is also businessman who also fit this description. In order to be a real global success, you need the help of others. Within many companies ran by men, there are women behind the scenes. And within many companies ran by women, there are men behind the scenes. It disturbs me when I see any leader who presents as if they had no help from anyone along the way.”

“Personally, the Bible’s emphasis on love and the need to consider the worth of fellow humans appeals to me. It encourages us to become kind to one another, tenderly compassionate, freely forgiving one another. It also encourages us to do nothing out of contentiousness or out of egotism, but with lowliness of mind considering that others are superior to you. Nothing is said about this advice applying to only women, but this is how people – men and women should treat each other. PTC hires and grooms skilled, women and men as consultants. Each are considered based on their merits.”

7. What's one funny thing that happen to you this year?

“We were in the process of building a relationship with a new client who is a celebrity entertainer. This client ran us all over town, day and night, sometimes disappearing into thin air, reappearing hours later. Workdays ran from early morning till very late at night, sometimes seeing the sun rise while still engaged in business (mind you we work remotely so everyone could still shower and change clothes! 😊) Finally, we call it quits early, go home and head to bed to get some much-needed sleep. As soon as we turned the lights out, the phone rang! Our A Lister suddenly needs to catch a jet and wants us to come back to the mansion to pick them up. This lovely estate is over an hour away from our beach home. So off we go, heading to pick up our client.”

“We arrive at the airport, drop off luggage and get ready to say our goodbyes – when our new buddy decides that while we wait on the pilot, it was time to feed them (at this point it is 2am)! We go to the local pancake establishment because it’s the only thing open. The place looks abandoned. As we are getting out the car, our client turns and says, “I don’t have any money, my cards maxed out, can you pay?” Of course, we cover the cost, but we go inside and was served the worst meal on the planet. Our celebrity starts singing and makes the best of it as we happily paid the bill. Two weeks later, they called asking for $250, to buy some fried chicken!!! LOL Weeks later we booked an international tour. This by far was one of the funniest client development sessions ever!”

8. Anything else you want to share with us? You have the floor queen!

“Don’t be afraid to start a business. Ten years ago, we were apprehensive. We wondered if we would be able to walk away from our nine-to-fives. Would anyone value the services we provide? Could we really set our own schedules and work from any location? Ten years later, PTC has been profitable year over year. We have helped many business owners to achieve their goals and we have even expanded into developing several other business entities. If you have any questions about business ownership or would like to benefit from the use of our services, please contact us at info@ptc.services, visit us on the web at www.ptc.services or follow us on Instagram @ptc.services.”

Brittany Dawn —

1. “Hello all, my name is Brittany Dawn and I am from Dallas, Texas. I am a 23-year-old entrepreneur, full time college student, full time employee and mom of 1. I have recently launched my own online toddler clothing store featuring some mommy accessories, tanks and tees. I am also a brand ambassador for a girl boss brand entitled Girl boss Collection.”

“My favorite quote is actually a bible verse from Psalms 46:5 “God is within her, she shall not fail; God will help her at break of day.””

2. “As a woman I plan to impact the world by being a role model to all women around me. I have always wanted to start an organization for young girls to make sure that they are able to get the best out of life and have an equal chance at every opportunity that is presented to them.”

“With my store, Kayse Collection, I want moms to have a brand all their own. I plan to add on an addition to my store called Mom’s Place that will feature items such as customized house robes, slippers and other items that make mom feel appreciated and relaxed.”

“Growing up I played both ends of the fence. I went from being the girl who hung out with the bullies to becoming the girl who was being bullied. I can give a perspective from both ends and I feel like I can empower young girls and women to go after what they want no matter what.”

“One major struggle that I have faced this year is anxiety. I have struggled with this issue my whole life and sometimes it makes it so difficult to stay focused. One way that I have learned how to manage it is by taking a day or two out the week to relax and clear my mind.”

“Another struggle that I have faced this year is my weight. I want new moms and mom in general to understand that it is okay to not “snapback in 2 weeks.” I want them to know that everything comes with time and to keep pushing.”

“With my platform I plan to inspire and build confidence in others. I plan to organize girl boss event and women empowerment events in my community to inspire those around me and be a mentor to those who are younger than me. My brand will represent what it means to be superwoman.”

“With my business you should expect quality and compassion. After having my son, I felt a severe detachment from him, therefore, I added mommy and me tanks and tees to give mommy a chance to bond with their child.”

“Advice that I would give women would be to never give up and go after what you believe in. A year ago, I was a stressed-out college mom with no money. I had plenty of ideas but didn’t know where to start. I purchased a business course from @alexisabellamarketing and there it was! I took a leap out on faith and now I own my own business and am building my own personal brand. What I am trying to say is to never be afraid of going after what you want. I will be the first to graduate from college in my family which means I am setting a foundation for those younger than me. Never be afraid to be you.”

“This year I have accomplished starting my own business and building myself up as a brand and gaining more social media exposure.”

“I am very aware of my rights as a woman. Women’s’ rights to me mean that women are entitled to make their own decisions sexually, mentally and physically. Women should be able to give full blown verbal consent. As far as abortion goes, I feel that women should have a choice. Women are violated everyday not only women, but young girls as well. Choices are choices and should not be taken away.”

“One funny thing that happen to me this year is my discovery of triple numbers and the universe. I always thought that triple digits were the devil until I was taught otherwise. I honestly thought it was a myth until I was working one day and 888 popped up. It was funny to me because at the moment I was writing out a plan on what else I should add to the site and when. I decided to put a hold on it because 888 means to take a step back and rethink. I found this to be so funny and now every time I see triple digits, I check to see what the universe is telling me.”

“Lastly, I would just like to say to women who wear multiple hats like I do and are struggling just know that women are made to be superheroes. We grow life, raise life and keep the world at piece. Just know you are stronger than you think you are!”

Favorite Quote:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. You’re playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

-What I do:

“Writer/Author by passion. Director of Digital Product Management for a Financial Management firm.”

2. How will I impact the world as a woman?

“I will live in and speak my truth in an effort to help another woman to avoid the mistakes I made and to adhere to the warning signs I ignored. I will transparently relate to my Sisters to assure them; they are not alone. I will always remind my Sisters, there is Purpose in the Pain.”

3. What are some challenges and obstacles you faced throughout your journey to get where you are today?

“In sharing my truth, some of my family members have insulted and antagonized me once my Spiritual Memoir was released due to the exposure of family secrets, (which held me captive all my life). I’ve had to face my fears and transparently acknowledge my responsibility in the part I played in my dysfunction. This caused some of my past mistakes to resurface and haunt me all over again. Those affected or knew my truth, have tried to discredit my character due to past indiscretions. As a black and educated woman in corporate America, I’ve been continuously insulted and undervalued. I’ve been pigeon-holed into positions made to be perceived as a “social butterfly.” My capabilities and skills have been devalued and hidden, encouraged to believe I was incapable of my responsibilities. However, I have been given credit for my fashion sense and menial tasks which totally degrade my value. In all the above, I’ve used my relationship with God, perseverance, resilience, and determination to push through it all. I’ve kept my eyes on God and the prize and always remembered who and whose I was.”

3. How will your platform, business, organization, product impact the world?

“My Spiritual Memoir will encourage all to never give up and never lose focus of purpose: All Pain has a Purpose. Through my transparency and growth, my audience can easily relate to their own personal and hidden struggles. This allows them to do the hard work and began to unpack issues within themselves which may be holding them back from their purpose.”

What should we look for in it?

“Transparency and relatability. This memoir shares a lot of personal and vulnerable moments of my life. In all the experiences I’ve shared, it is to promote growth and endurance. Look for experiences, (good and bad to all serve a purpose in my journey. “

4. What’s something you would share with another woman who’s trying to get to the same place as you? Any advice to tell her.

“Focus and understand growth brings about pain and change. Not everyone who you believe will be there to support you. You have to know within your soul: you are set out on your own personal journey, no one else’s. Accept not everyone is ready for you and your fabulous self. Advice: Accepts who’s meant to come along your journey could be a total stranger. Let go of those who you’ve perceived as essential and accept who they have proven to be in your life.”

5. What are some goals you have accomplished this year?

- The release and publishing of my first Spiritual Memoir

- Appeared on my first podcast and interviewed.

- Spoke at my first Empowerment Summit

- Featured by Girl Boss Lifestyle as an Empowering Woman of my community.

6. Are you aware of women’s rights?

“Yes”

What does women’s rights mean to you?

“It means EVERYTHING to me. As a minority woman, I have experienced grave levels of discrimination and it has been reflected in my career promotions, career salary, subjective evaluations, and many more disparities. Women’s rights mean making all things equal in the workforce: equal pay, respect, and acknowledgment. Women’s rights mean acknowledging how far we’ve come and how far we’ve had to fight to still be several steps behind men.”

7. What’s one funny thing that happened to you this year?

“My professional position requires me to be a liaison between several department and foster relationships between those departments. To create an open, transparent & trusting environment, I made a decision to indulge in more face-to-face communication versus demanding emails. In my attempt to bridge the gap and step out of the “send an email” box, I was labeled as a “social butterfly.” Hilarious! This comment came to me after my desk was covered with multiple Valentine’s Day gifts from co-workers.”

8. Anything else you want or share?

“I would encourage everyone to be sure your voice is heard in ANY insulting, unfair, and demeaning experiences in the workplace. Failure to report these incidents due to fear, will result in many women after you are experiencing the same. Live in your truth and be sure to reach back and help your fellow Sisters behind you!”

Andy Thibo

1. Introduce yourself. Tell us where your from, your favorite quote, and what you do!

“I'm from down South where they think we ride on horses all day, Houston, Texas. Lol”

My favorite quote is
“Trust the Process!”

“I am a Senior Wealth & Credit Strategist at Creative Resource Foundation, LLC. Currently, my role to align new and existing business owners to obtain business credit plus funding that is structured to their company expansion needs. During my free time I go to schools to teach teenagers about financial development and personal credit skills. My motto is, “It’s not always who you know but it is about the knowledge you have to open closed doors.” If you have any questions, Just Ask Andy!”

2. How will you impact the world as a woman? What are some challenges and obstacles you faced throughout your journey to get where you are today?

“Impacting the world is something that I feel just being a woman is the impact! I will teach those that want to learn more about leveraging what we have to get more of what we want. There is a strategy for everything. With a plan, patience, and realistic goals we can accomplish everything we can imagine. My specialty is Budgeting and Credit, which is the alternate of Money. The challenges and obstacles that I face right now during my journey is trying to reach so many people at one time. Being that some people chose to think how our grandparents or parents use to think about certain situations, then those people want to keep those same trends going. When talking to someone about their budget, their mindset seems to play a role of money is coming in the next two weeks, so they have a budget in their mind. Also, when talking about credit, some people believe it's bad debt and it will take them forever to pay it back. So, they rather use their money on hand than leveraging their credit. In those situations, I love to show how, when and where to use your credit in multiple ways. Afterwards, they understand why a budget is so important.”

3. How will your platform, business, organization, product impact the world? What should we look for in it?

“My company will impact the world by giving individuals and business owners the opportunities to take control of their Personal Financial Authority, Business Management and a Learning Academy which will include Financial Literacy, Credit Leveraging, Business Structure and Business Funding. Overall, understand where to start personally and how to sell your business to continue generational wealth.”

4. What's something you would share with another woman who's trying to get to the same place as you? Any advice to tell her?

“For any woman that's thinking about starting your own business, please remember you have control of your own destiny. Pray about that every chance you get. If YOU can dream it, work daily, and understand no support is the best support, YOU will be unstoppable! Take advice, listen to others struggles, watch other people meet their goals but acknowledge that you are in your own lane for a reason. The amount of work that you put into your business will reflect the end results. If you do nothing, then you will receive nothing in return! Go Hard or Don't Do It At All. “

5. What are some goals you have accomplished this year?

“God is Good! So far this year, my goal was to make $5K a month, well I hit $10K recently. I wanted to speak at 3 engagements between 1st & 2nd Quarter, well I blow that out of the water! I spoke at over 15 speaking engagements. My main highlight was speaking on the News Station Live. In additional, my business partner and I are going on our 2nd tour this year to 6 different cities. To close out 2nd quarter, I was able to replace my regular 9 to 5 employer with my company’s income. The year is not over and now I need bigger goals. Lol”

6. Are you aware of women's rights? What does women's rights mean to you? What are some things you feel need to be brought to the world's attention today?

“Women's rights to me is the opportunity to show your purpose within the world. Of course, we battle with equal economic opportunities, Education equity and Gender based violence but let's be honest, what is really stopping Women??? Women are the reason why this world continue to grow. Without growth you have nothing. Every woman has the power to be at her peek self but they is why we are the strongest creation of the world.”

7. What's one funny thing that happen to you this year?

“I signed up a family member for our personal credit program and did not realize it until I ask for their address. I had been talking to this person on social media for about a year and had no clue. Small world! Lol”

8. Anything else you want to share with us? You have the floor queen!

“Please join our mailing list at bit.ly/ANDYMAIL for all upcoming events that will include The Branding & Funding Workshop Tour starting in August 2019 and also March 29, 2020, my first event called The F.O.C.U.S Business Conference in Houston, Texas.”

Jennifer McGinley

1. Introduce yourself. Tell us where you're from, your favorite quote, and what you do!

“Jennifer McGinley, I live in the Baltimore, Maryland area. I grew up in Upstate NY, Virginia, and Texas. I’m a wife, mother of two teens. I own JLM Strategic Communications, a Public Relations firm founded in October 2017. I help CEO’s, Leaders and organizations increase their connections, visibility, and credibility through strategic public relations campaigns. I love helping those who truly want to help make their communities better. I believe in serving others.”

Quotes:
Carpe Diem - “seize the day.”
“Faith, Focus, Forward”

2. How will you impact the world as a woman?

“ I will impact the world by raising children who know they are loved, valued, respected and can be who they want to be. They will have healthy boundaries and integrity. They will show kindness and respect and dignity for others. I will show respect to EVERYONE equally and help others rise as well. I will lead with honesty, kindness and an attitude of gratitude.”

b. What are some challenges and obstacles you faced throughout your journey to get where you are today?

“I have often faced self-doubt, self-criticism, and fear of failure. Now that I’m an entrepreneur there is also imposter syndrome. I’m working hard to shift my mindset. Looking back I realize that my tools for success are using my gut/intuition and just being me. I also keep a very small circle of women who I value and care about so much. We help each other. Life is best when lived honestly and authentically. I love living each day with a positive attitude. It really changes everything. It’s so worth it. It’s not easy, but I work hard to create the life I want and what makes me happy despite obstacles. For example, my goal when I turned 40 was to get to Paris for my 50th birthday. I did it! It was so worth it and magical! I took my daughter and that will be a memory we will cherish forever.”

3. How will your platform, business, organization, product impact the world?

“I want to help individuals and organizations who are changing the world for the better; amplify their work. I hope to get my clients great media placements, TED Talks and increase awareness for their books and their community outreach efforts.”

4. What's something you would share with another woman who's trying to get to the same place as you? Any advice to tell her?

“Don’t change for anyone. Stay true to you and your ethics and values. Everything else will fall into place. Surround yourself with honest individuals who truly want you to succeed. They won’t tell you what you want to hear, but what you need to hear.”

5. What are some goals you have accomplished this year?

“I have landed a few wonderful dream clients and I’m learning more about being an entrepreneur every day.”

6. Are you aware of women's rights? What do women's rights mean to you? What are some things you feel need to be brought to the world's attention today?

a. “Yes, we need to respect those who have gone before us to fight hard for the rights women have today. We need to continue to fight for the rights we still need including equal pay.

b. “Kindness and respect for ALL.”

7. What's one funny thing that happened to you this year?

“I can’t actually think of anything off the top of my head.”

8. Anything else you want to share with us? You have the floor queen!

“I’m so grateful to all the women who have genuinely supported me through my life journey as well as my entrepreneur journey. You know who you are.”

Crystal Shae

“Hey y’all my name is Crystal Shae. I love the quotes of many motivators and influencers but one of my favorite is “Everything is the way it should be; so love the way it is but make it what you want.” That’s a Crystal Shae original. I believe in this “almost to a fault at times.”

“As a mom of six, a master Raw Food Chef, a world influencer and a successful black female entrepreneur recently diagnosed and now living undetectable HIV positive I have no choice but to believe it. For years I was the go to woman when someone needed a prayer a breakthrough or merely an objective here; I was that girl I always found so much joy in being a non-judgmental sounding board for others you see, in my upbringing I was able to acquire 3 very special gifts.”

“These gifts I possess or not secret nor sacred to just me, however my life ‘s path and experiences have afforded me the opportunity to develop and master these gifts. As a child growing up the oldest of four I took on a lot of responsibilities at a very early age and funny thing is although it only lasted a total of about five years because it all took place in the very formative years of my life it had a huge impact on the woman that I was to become My parents separated early and somewhere along that I became the victim of much physical and emotional abuse and was actually violated by strangers family and my mom’s so-called friend. At the age of 11 I ran away to find my way in in the world. Homelessness, teen pregnancy, divorce feast and famine. I got my first job paying 8 hours at the age of 14 and felt rich, but I have to admit now that even at the age of 46 I am just overcoming my desire to run from stressful situation. This taught me the habit of survival and spiraled me into an addiction of struggle. They became second nature to me in a way of life. I hated it. It made it hard for me to find acceptance in who I was and made it difficult for me to embrace the place that I was supposed to be. I wanted to be normal. I wanted a family. I want to serenity. I wanted absolution for my wrongs by reason of abandonment I was entitled to get all the world had to give, whether I deserved it or not, by way of chronic misfortune. I was a mess.”

“But believe me when I tell you had it not been for the three gifts that I possess my contribution to society would be minimal, at best. The three most powerful gift that I possess or faith, forgiveness, and love. And I don’t say this is some sort of a cliché or even an affirmation these are truly a gift that I have had to exercise and applied to my life and people and situations and do it with flying colors every time. And there is a method to the madness there is a science and there is no situation, person or circumstance that has not fallen victim to the power of any one of or even all three of these gifts at some point in time. I called them my besties and we love to show up in places where there is foolishness, complacency, anger, darkness or low-level energy just waiting to drain the life out of a room, a situation or a person. we always succeed in making our presence known LOL. Like when someone cuts on the lights when roaches though they were free to come out and play.”

“But all jokes aside, I turned my pain into purpose. I am able to forgive without apology, love unapologetically and believe when there seems to be no way out.”

“I am a brand, but first I am a woman. Then a mom. And most importantly a goddess of love light and possibilities. I want to be able to use what I have to ignite the passion of purpose that will aluminate the world. I love to share with every woman the power in letting your guard down, opening your heart, and allowing God to come in and disrupt all of your mess. Your ego, your lack of forgiveness, your unapologetic self righteousness, your overly independent ass attitude. Your coulda, shoulda, , wouldas and most of all your denial of who you really are and what you’re truly capable of.”

“I’d want to let her know the self-sabotage, and “ I got it all together-ness” is a scam and that if she really wants to see shit take off the first thing to take off is the mask. There is no longer the need to hide, protect and defend yourself, but now more than ever is the time to level up and become wrapped up tied up and completely entangled in the greatness of herself. This year I am working on my mental health and make sure my mine was fit.”

-I wrote a book

-I co-authored a book

-I relaunched my vegan meal prep and delivery business

-I became a grandmother

“I think that it would be in our best interest to become better educated on mental health especially for the successful black woman. We were taught early on to be strong. We had to be strong when Daddy left. we had to be strong when we were bullied. we had to be strong when we were abused. we had to be strong for the kid. we had to be strong when “he” was weak so as not to intimidate. and so we shrugged off nervous breakdowns, made light of our anxiety, and play down and hurts and pains. So we can be … Strong. So strong that we became weak and fragile, have attachment issues, and lacked the ability to fully trust A really funny thing that happened to me this year was dating an older gentleman who knew that I was HIV-positive but never wanted my lips to touch any of his body parts for fear that the fluids would make him positive. With my oral fixation you can only imagine along the jeopardy of that LOL”

Megan Wooding

1. “My name is Megan Wooding, I'm from Wallingford CT, and I'm the author of "Dear Sister," a nonfiction book due for early release December of 2019. I'm also a photographer and creator of tools and workshops to help women claim their identities, gifts, and communities. I have a lot of favorite quotes, but one I keep coming back to is that leadership is being intentional with our influence. (Shared by Jo Saxton and Steph Williams on Lead Stories Podcast) I love this, because it breaks down the barrier of female leadership especially. We can answer the question of whether we're leading in our lives just by looking at our intentions and actions.”

2. “I pray that my influence as a woman opens doors and connections for other women. I want girls coming up behind me to see me and know they can follow the path I've marked, or maybe find their own from it. I want women walking with me to know that they are not alone, that they are seen, and that they are so very much enough. My biggest obstacle has been how little I trusted myself and my gifts. I can only live into my purpose to the extent I believe in it. I have hidden because I was afraid of being shamed. I have suppressed my voice because I was afraid of being abandoned. I was afraid of being too much, afraid of showing how much I really cared. But these things hold my power.”

3. “All of my courses, workshops, and especially my book, "Dear Sister," will show women they are already worthy. They will remind them that they are not alone in their struggles, and that they are enough on their hardest, least productive days. They will invite them to seek community support and sisterhood, because we all need all our gifts, and we are strongest together.”

4. “I think it would depend on what place she thinks I'm in. If we're talking about creative work, I would tell her to just start. Just start writing, just start listening to your inner creative. If we're talking about personally... I wrote a book about that!”

5. “One of my biggest goals has been to get to know more women, and I've been very intentional about developing my community. Every time a group of intentional women comes together it's magic and I'm in awe. Hosting my second Embodied Sisterhood workshop this summer was such an incredible experience. I love bringing women together from all different backgrounds and watching them nurture and encourage each other.”

6. “Women's rights to me mean autonomy and security for all women, especially BIWOC who have historically had the least access to autonomy or security. There is SO much that needs to be brought to the world's attention. My heart bleeds for the missing and murdered Indigenous women, and their sisterhood that tirelessly fights for awareness. The maternal mortality rate of black mothers is sobering and horrifying as well. There are "holy" war on reproductive rights. Women suffering from eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of all mental illnesses, and these are often caused by our culture of body hatred. It's imperative we give girls access to education so they can advocate for themselves, their families, and communities. We need to do better both legislatively and personally on all of these issues. Even if we can't afford to contribute financially to these causes regularly, we can start by using our voices, and educating our communities. We can make sure we are listening to women in vulnerable intersections and elevating their voices and platforms. We can call our legislators, write letters, and hold them accountable in elections. We can teach our daughters about resilience and resistance.”

7. “I scheduled an intro and coaching call with my book editor, but we had a miscommunication about my email address, and I didn't get any of the preparatory emails she sent me. We finally connected 10 minutes past our scheduled time. I had not prepared for a video conference, and was in my robe and PJs, but we had a fantastic zoom call anyways, and she still wanted to work with me!”

8. “The photos included that aren't portraits of me, are from my recent "Embodied Sisterhood" workshop, where a group of women came together to take up space in pictures. The women who participate in these workshops leave with a new sisterhood and support in their lives. My favorite thing is seeing them encourage each other online in the months after our time together.”

Vicky North

1. Introduce yourself. Tell us where your from, your favorite quote, and what you do!

“Vic North, Wales UK,
“If you can see it, you can be it 💫”

“Start-up kitchen clothing brand for women cooks and chefs - Bird Kitchen Clothing.”

2. How will you impact the world as a woman? What are some challenges and obstacles you faced throughout your journey to get where you are today?

“My goal is to inspire other women in food to strive for excellence and take their place at the table with professionalism, passion and great taste! My biggest challenge to date has been managing childcare with work but with determination and a good diary, anything is possible.”

3. How will your platform, business, organization, product impact the world? What should we look for in it?

“Bird Kitchen Clothing will make the world of food a better place for women by providing great workwear and, through building our community, inspire each other into great things. Quality, design, community and real food are values that we celebrate in all we do.”

4. What's something you would share with another woman who's trying to get to the same place as you? Any advice to tell her?

“Surround yourself with great women who share your values and have a similar vision. I can’t emphasise enough the power of working together towards a common goal. Also, be sure that your goals feel authentic and come from a place of experience. That’ll get you through the tough times”

5. What are some goals you have accomplished this year?

“We’ve launched our social media and nailed our brand voice. However, most importantly- we’ve created three beautiful garments for market out of a slew of ideas and experience.”

6. Are you aware of women's rights? What does women's rights mean to you? What are some things you feel need to be brought to the world's attention today?

“I’m a signed up member of the UK Women's Equality Party and believe in gender equality to the benefit of all - diversity makes us stronger.”

7. What's one funny thing that happen to you this year?

“Struggling to think!”

8. Anything else you want to share with us? You have the floor queen!

“The biggest lesson I’ve learnt is the importance of committing to a dream if you want to make it happen. Also, it really helps to figure out what’s important to you in the way you choose to live your life - no matter how hard things get, remember that there will always be an element of choice, somewhere and you have the power to change things for the better, if you set your mind to it.”

Ruthie Bowles

1. Introduce yourself. Tell us where you're from, your favorite quote, and what you do!

“My name is Ruthie Bowles, and I’m the Founder and Chief Marketing Strategist of Defy The Status Quo, a boutique content marketing agency for B2B consulting and service firms. I’m from California, but I joined the Army out of high school and ended up all over the place. I was also a federal contractor before I started my business.”

“My favorite quote is “Perfect is the enemy of progress.” Why? Because it’s easier to use perfection as an excuse to keep your brilliance from the world. We become reluctant to share, fearful of criticism. But many times, you need to settle for “good enough” and tweak it as you go.”

2. How will you impact the world as a woman? What are some challenges and obstacles you faced throughout your journey to get where you are today?

“I don’t know if I would say that I will specifically impact this world as a woman. I’m here, and I feel like I have something to accomplish. If being a woman helps me accomplish more, then great. I feel like, no matter what I’ve done or am going to do, I’m supposed to help knock down barriers.”

“Now that doesn’t mean that I will single-handedly make great strides towards eliminating unconscious gender bias or anything. But I know that single interactions can help change other people’s perceptions. So, I’m determined to use every opportunity I have to do my part.”

“Some challenges I’ve faced…. Well, being a woman can certainly be a challenge. We’re often perceived as less capable, for no specific reason. Especially when we “step out of our lane” into areas that are male dominated. So sometimes, I don’t feel as if I’m taken as seriously.”

“I often get mistaken for younger than I am, and therefore less capable or responsible. So that’s something I consistently working against. I just do my best to not make that same mistake about other people. “

“One of my biggest challenges is the fact that I don’t have professional writing experience or even industry experience in most of the industry verticals I write and strategize in. Seriously, none. I have an avid interest and I gobble up all of the information I can find greedily. I had to build a network from almost nothing. Everything I know about content writing, marketing, and strategy, I’ve taught myself. In order to surmount this challenge, I carefully note the results I get for my clients. When speaking with prospects, I always focus on the value I bring, not the years of experience I (don’t) have.”

3. How will your platform, business, organization, product impact the world? What should we look for in it?

“My business is working to help businesses in “boring” industries use their content to connect with the clients who need them. I only work with clients who want to do what I do and “defy the status quo.” We’re improving the quality of the Internet by only putting out the very best content. We’re making typically tough to understand topics more accessible through content writing. I’m also working very hard to make big business knowledge accessible to small business owners through my blog, digital products, and podcast, The Defiant Business Podcast.”

4. What's something you would share with another woman who's trying to get to the same place as you? Any advice to tell her?

“Imposter syndrome is real. You have to accept the fear you’re feeling and then do it anyway. You will never reach a point where the syndrome doesn’t strike. So you have to learn how to deal with it. My experiences in the Army and as a fitness competitor showed me that I can push myself to do anything, if I want it enough. If it doesn’t scare you at least a little bit, you aren’t pushing hard enough!”

5. What are some goals you have accomplished this year?

“I raised my rates by 400% this year and landed some great new clients. I redesigned my brand and website to reflect the sort of work and impact I want to put out into the world. I finished two digital information products and put them on my site. I’ve managed to get a few speaking gigs, I’ve expanded my network, and I’ve set the wheels in motion for so much more.”

6. Are you aware of women's rights? What do women's rights mean to you? What are some things you feel need to be brought to the world's attention today?

“Women’s rights means equality to me. And some of this is legislative, but some of it we have to handle in our homes. We can’t treat our sons and daughters differently. Boys aren’t “easier to raise” unless you make your daughters difficult. You can’t tell men that women are equal, when you demonstrate to boys that girls are not. Each of us has an opportunity to start a grassroots movement in our communities and in our homes. Every action can have an impact. We have to start with the kids. Because they’ll carry it into the future.”

7. What's one funny thing that happened to you this year?

I sent a couple of emails to a really important prospect, and then wondered why they ghosted me. Did I say something to turn them off? What did I DO? I had misspelled their email address, that’s what! I corrected the spelling and got a response less than 24 hours later.

8. Anything else you want to share with us? You have the floor queen!

“My company name is Defy The Status Quo because we let the status quo define our experiences. The status quo for small business is that the majority will fail. Why? Often because the owners don’t have the knowledge to run a business sustainably. So I created the podcast and speak on business topics. The status quo for content is mediocrity. Therefore, I only work with companies who understand that quality content is what gets you to the top of search engines. Quality content is what gets you qualified business leads. Great content is how you stand out from your competition. You have to be willing to do the work. It’s lonely at the top because the climb is hard and so many people quit. Don’t quit. Let’s all aim to reach the summit together.”

Dori B. Cook M. ED

1. Introduce yourself. Tell us where your from, your favorite quote, and what you do!

a. “I am Dori B. Cook, M. Ed., an Educational Consultant and Mompreneur/small business owner. I have worked in Education for over 20 years both stateside and internationally on special education compliance. I am originally from Montgomery, Alabama, a true southern belle. I received both of my degrees while living there, a Bachelor’s of Science in Behavioral and Social Sciences and a Master’s of Ed in Early Childhood Special Education. My favorite quote is “The Dream is Free. The Hustle is Sold Separately. This is truth for me because entrepreneurship is hard as hell.”

2. How will you impact the world as a woman? What are some challenges and obstacles you faced throughout your journey to get where you are today?

a. “My impact on the world as a woman has always had a focus on the family and specifically, women of color. Women/mothers are our first teachers and typically the primary parent when educational matters and moreover when the educational matters are related to learning difficulties. Education is a critical puzzle piece for constructing the foundations for successful families of the African Diaspora. I intend to do all I can as a specialist to keep training school communities on best serving our students.”

b. “Some obstacles or challenges that I have encountered on my journey is that in the small business world and given the recent increase in women SBOs there is still gender discrimination. Within the school community, there is also a preconceived notion that the only job for assertive and strategic Black women is discipline. I am good at discipline but that’s not the only area where I am considered an expert.”

3. How will your platform, business, organization, product impact the world? What should we look for in it?

a. “See no. 2.”

b. “What you should look for in my firm is an increasing number of independent schools having well equipped staff that can address a variety of learning needs within the school community. I want to provide inclusive tactics for schools to employ as a means of developing more scholars and exposing those with learning difficulties with more academic promise and opportunities.”

4. What’s something you would share with another woman who’s trying to get to the same place as you? Any advice to tell her?

“My advice to another woman is to understand the undertaking that comes with working in education. Education is a different beast in that there are a lot of grey areas and loopholes. At times, the approach to change is to wear you down instead of embrace change even with thousands of pages of research to support the recommendations. It’s not like medicine or law or finance; Education marches to the beat of it’s own drum and a small business owner in this arena has to be equipped and connected. Because my firm represents what we educators celebrate publicly and should do within the classroom; however, there is less accountability to that fact and thus pushback when accountability is required.”

5. What are some goals you have accomplished this year?

“I have another published title under my belt, and I started the groundwork on my nonprofit Nacr3. Strong, Resilient, Luminous! More to come on that later.”

6. Are you aware of women’s rights? What does women’s rights mean to you? What are some things you feel need to be brought to the world’s attention today?

“I am fully aware of women’s rights and it is extremely important to me. Prior to relocating to the DMV, I worked full time to fight for women’s rights. There are several issues and the top 2 for me is reproductive rights, equal pay particularly in the African American community.”

7. What’s one funny thing that happen to you this year?

“I can’t think of anything at the moment.”

8. Anything else you want to share with us? You have the floor queen!

“I am a die hard Auburn Fan. War Eagle! I am a Fierce and unstoppable Advocate for women and children!”

Taqwila M. Mullins

“Queens do it big”

Who am I?
“Hello ladies! My name is Taqwila Mullins! I am the founder of WLOTW! I am grateful to have created this organization to help our women with self confidence, self love, self empowerment, self motivation and more! I’m from Atlanta, Georgia and I’m currently a college student!”

A favorite quote for me would actually be a scripture:

Jeremiah 29:11 NLT “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
‭‭
2. How will you impact the world as a woman? What are some challenges and obstacles
you faced throughout your journey to get where you are today?

a. “As a woman, we impact the world mentality, physically and definitely emotionally. My life will impact others through my testimony, the things I went through mentally, I’d share with another person whose going through something mentally. The things I went through physically, I’d share and help those whose going through something physically. The things I went through emotionally, I’d share those things with a person whose going through something emotionally. Its our testimonies that impact the world!”

b. “Some challenges I have faced through my life time would be grief of love ones, the enemies tactics, and the lack of faith. I overcame these challenges by prayer, building my relationship with God, and surrounding myself around God fearing women and men!”

3. How will your platform, business, organization, product impact the world? What should
we look for in it?

a. “My platform will be used for women to come to for advice, motivation , prosperity, and strength. My platform is not just mine, it’s the women who engage themselves with it. These women inspire other women everyday! It’s mind blowing!”

b. “Look for development when you see WLOTW. We fix crowns , we don’t tilt, we don’t take off, we FIX!”

4. What's something you would share with another woman who's trying to get to the same
place as you? Any advice to tell her?

“We’re all trying to get on the same page, one thing I don’t believe in is competition. When you began to feel like your competing with someone, you’ve already lost. There’s enough at the table for everyone to eat, you must be strategic and follow the steps God has given you to succeed!”

5. What are some goals you have accomplished this year?

“ A major goal I have accomplished is building that foundation and relationship with God. I never knew how important a relationship with God was. The reason I went through so much pain because I was in the world lost, I didn’t know who to run to. I was so burnt out, I had no choice but to follow God. Another goal would be the relaunch of my hair business! I put God in the midst of it and now I’m helping other women build their brands as well!”

6. Are you aware of women's rights? What does women's rights mean to you? What are
some things you feel need to be brought to the world's attention today?

“I am currently a sociology major and one thing I’ve discovered is that I am a feminist! I believe in women rights, I believe women should be treated equally! Women are strong! At times, women must be the breadwinners, today is totally different then it use to be. The attention grabber for what needs to be seen is women’s pay! Even with degrees, I believe if woman have successfully met the criteria exceedingly in their degrees, their money should match up with that criteria! Education is a lot of work! We did not go through all that to just get payed minimum of what we deserved, we went through it to get payed exactly what we’re worth knowledgeably!”

7. What's one funny thing that happen to you this year?

“During Summer 2019, I was working at Delta Airlines cleaning the aircraft’s, one night it was raining and I was walking up the steps to enter the plane and I fell! It was so embarrassing because my coworkers heard how hard I fell! It was super funny in the end! I was okay!”

8. Anything else you want to share with us? You have the floor queen!

“Ladies, I just want to thank you for sharing your stories with the world, thank you for being transparent and so loyal! We honor you with everything you do, and we want to make sure you achieve your goals, ideas, and dreams! Years from now we will talk about these moments, we will share these stories , and we will save lives! I’m on this journey with you and together we will be on top! Thank you!”
