Foresight

Since the day I looked into those eyes my heart knew
That our path together only grew
When we could be alone
With ourselves
Love the complexities inside
Not fear the depth of our own minds
I find it crazy to think
All that’s gone by
Almost in the blink of an eye
The chapter now drawing nigh
with the setting sun
The canvas of the darkest night
Is needed for the stars to shine bright
The darkness was needed so that we could have sight
The separation was needed
So that our connection could be seeded
Of the past that indeed clouded our vision
From what was true
That between us two was only ever unconditional love
Two souls ready to trust
Two souls, remembering that they were always enough
Knowing they already have everything they need on the inside
But deciding to take this dive
Without a torch to see through the night
Of where this road will lead us
But what I know to be true
Is that every day I will honour you
Celebrate you exactly as you are
Whether you’re near or far
Give you the space for your dreams to grow
Let you flow like the waters of the river
Hold you close when your flame starts to flicker
When you loose the glimmer in your eyes
Because my soul chose you not to claim some prize
But so that we could both rise in our unique expression
And here is my confession of truth
That there’s nothing I’d rather do
Than share this life with you
So I don’t ask you to commit to me
To no longer be free
I ask if your heart believes
In all the possibilities of our road together
As it opens new doors of joy and pleasure
A partnership that we choose and treasure
I ask you, after the rain and stormy weather we walked through
