"What we practice on the small scale , set the pattern on the whole system "
-adrienne maree brown
I'm Fiorella Giuliana, a life's explorer, multi-hyphenate human, cultivating and sharing mindfulness and embodied practices. I'm Peruvian-Canadian with "raíces andinas / tusán" , currently based in Montreal.I believe that social change starts in the understanding of our bodies( soma),how we feel in them and how we relate to others through them as a transformative intervention. Social and environmental justice starts within us.
Multidisciplinary educator since 20 years, my journey brought me to discover dance at a young age through my culture: indigenous dances and Afro-Peruvian rhythms. Dance appeared in my life through rituals, community and care. It has always being a way to reconnect within my senses, feelings and communicate in the world. I discovered yoga and meditation later on in 2010. I explore and share my embodied practices in different ways. I'm a certified yoga and mindfulness educator. I completed my first 500 hrs hatha yoga teacher training at Naada Yoga Montreal with Elizabeth Emberly and guest teachers.
As a yoga, dance and mindfulness educator and an artivist, my practices are creative, playful and trauma-informed. I'm committed to share my creativity, curiosity and joy through movement and mindfulness.
I have committed myself since the beginning of my teaching career to make embodied practices equally accessible to neurodivergent and disabled individuals because I firmly believe that everyone can benefit from mindfulness and somatic movement at any stage of life.
I teach yoga & dance to children, youth and adults. The diversity & complementarity of my trainings including specialized trainings in yoga for self-regulation and trauma, yoga for diverse populations and social art intervention (if you’d like to know more about my trainings, contact me 😉) have helped me broaden my knowledge , sensibility and skills
to offer adaptive practices. I'm deeply interested in sharing intercultural projects with kindness and reciprocity.
My thirst for knowledge and learning brought me to study a one-year program with IBme to continue sharing mindfulness to youth and young adult population. I love participating in somatic processes as an explorer travelling through a new territory. My curiosity with movement and consciousness led me to pursue a post-graduate degree in somatic education.
CREATIVE DANCE QUEST
As I continue to expand my bailaora skills with Myriam Allard, Rocio Vadillo & Aurelie Brunelle through flamenco, you'll discover that I'm passionate about sharing this art form as a means of resistance, rebellion, resilience and freedom via movement exploration offerings and performances.
Germaine Acogny's technique (Alessandra Seutin, École des Sables, Senegal) and Afro-Peruvian dances with my maestro Antonio Vilchéz (Lima, Perú) have profoundly influenced me, and I'm on a mission to investigate and engage with the subtleties from within through ancient and modern African dances .
In case you didn’t know Flamenco is born from Gitano Andaluz communities and it has also been influenced by african roots!!!
COMUNITY WORK MTL AND ABROAD
I had the opportunity co-create a nonprofit organization( OCY), worked with survivors of sexual gender based-violences and conflict related sexual violences and trained legal representatives serving these communities in DRC( Democratic republic of Congo) . I currently work with survivors of gender-based violence and I am engaged in my community by serving as an advisor, leading trainings/circles of care, and participating in interdisciplinary collaborative art projects. I'm also a doula ! 🌼
Hope tosee you soon , con cariño,
