Forest Bathing

Forest bathing, also known as Shinrin-yoku in Japanese, is a therapeutic practice that involves immersing oneself in the natural environment of a forest. It is not merely a physical activity but a mindful and sensory experience, where individuals engage all their senses to connect with nature.
This practice encourages participants to slow down, breathe deeply, and absorb the serene and healing ambiance of the forest. The benefits of forest bathing are numerous. Firstly, it helps reduce stress levels by promoting relaxation and calming the mind. Spending time in nature has been proven to lower blood pressure, heart rate, and cortisol levels, thereby improving overall well-being. It has also proven to reduce anxiety, manage depression as well as dementia.
Forest bathing also boosts the immune system, as trees release phytoncides, natural substances that strengthen our immune response. When humans takes in these phytoncides, they are converted to a form of white blood cells known as Natural Killer (NK) cells which go about repairing damaged cells or malignant cells in human bodies.
