Hi, I’m Gabrielle! If you’re new, welcome to my page :)

Just a little bit about myself... I have been teaching myself and practicing calligraphy for about five years. I have been able to find a passion through this; however, as I’ve grown, so have my interests. Photography, editing, and traveling, have all become niches of mine that I love exploring and experimenting with. Thus, gkcaptures has emerged! Follow me for travel guides, occasional calligraphy works & snapshots of the world ✨

I want to personally thank all of you for coming on this journey with me and supporting me along the way 😊

pizzeria locale

At the beginning of December, I traveled to Denver, Colorado with my mom and some friends to do some fun shopping and lots of eating :) We traveled up to Boulder for a day to check out the city and my mom’s friend suggested Pizzeria Locale as a must-stop. As soon as we stepped into the restaurant, I knew I would love it. It was bright and airy, and welcoming yet sophisticated. Including an extensive list of classic Napoletana pizza, everything on their menu—though mainly written in Italian—sounded phenomenal and the decision was extremely difficult.

In the end, we ordered Polpettine (homemade beef meatballs with a homemade san marzano tomato sauce) and Prosciutto di Parma for our appetizers. Both the dishes hit it out of the park and made me extremely excited for our pizzas :)

We ordered one Pizze Bianche (pizza with a white sauce) and one Pizze Rosse (pizza with tomato sauce). For our Pizze Bianche, we chose the Cavoletti (pictured above) that consisted of brussel sprouts, pancetta (bacon), garlic, creme fraiche, taleggio, and grana padano. This pizza was delicious, however, it started to taste a little bland after a few pieces. I would definitely recommend it if you were planning on sharing a few different types of pizza with the table, but I wouldn’t order it just for yourself.

For our Pizze Rosse, we went with the classic Margherita (pictured above + below). This was probably my favorite pizza I’d had in a long time. The homemade san marzano tomato sauce was absolutely stellar and the mozzarella, basil, and grana padano only accented it. I could definitely get behind ordering this one just for myself :) But, Pizzeria Locale has such a vast list to choose from that, all in all, your best bet is to order a few and share.

Located in the Historic Third Ward of Downtown Milwaukee, Sweet Diner is the ultimate brunch getaway. With a diverse menu and chic interior, you will not be disappointed ☺️

Sweet Diner is the newest addition to my favorite restaurant list! The atmosphere is super fun and they even have a mini-bar in the waiting room :) All the employees were kind and welcoming: it is definitely a brunch restaurant you want to visit!

Sweet Diner’s menu is one of the things I love most. They have (pretty much) anything you can imagine; from skillet bowls to crepes, there’s no going wrong.

For our brunch, we ordered:
🍴 meat lovers skillet bowl - I’m not a huge meat eater, but this was pretty delicious. A really good option if you love a hearty breakfast!
🍴 caramel apple pancakes - I absolutely LOVED these pancakes! I love myself a sweet brunch and these hit the spot.
🍴 crème brûlée style french toast - one of Sweet Diner’s signature dishes, this french toast lived up to my expectations! It was surprisingly light for french toast which made the experience even better :)
🍴 nutella crepes - I’m a big crepe person (I’ll usually order one anytime they’re on the menu) and these have to be at the top of my list. They were a little thicker than a traditional crepe but just as amazing!

Their drink menu was extensive; more than enough to satisfy adults :) but they also have many juices and teas for kids!

We ordered:
☕️ mean green cold fresh squeezed juice - I’m a big fan of green juice so this was super delicious to me! It’s consists of kale, spinach, romaine, green apple, cucumber, and lime. If you’re not super big on green juice, I wouldn’t make this the first one you try; but, if you love them like I do, definitely order this!
☕️ fresh squeezed strawberry and orange juice - I was a little hesitant at first with this one, just because I’d never heard of these two juices together; but, this turned out to be one of my favorite juices. It still has some of the seeds from the strawberry in the juice so you know it is fresh!
☕️ fresh squeezed orange juice - I love a little pulp in my oj and this was perfect! We ordered this at the mini-bar in the waiting room and it came out super quick and super fresh. I would definitely recommend if you’re one to stay on the more classic side, in terms of drinks.
