The Gospel

“So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:17‬

So I got some bad news and some incredible news. The bad news is, our sin has separated us from God and the even worse news is, there is nothing we can do on our own to remove our sin. However, the BEST news is, God made a way for us to be free of sin. This is by the sacrifice His one and only son Jesus Christ made on the cross for us. By Jesus who was without sin, willingly dying for our sins and resurrecting three days later, He made the only way for us to be totally forgiven of our sins, have a restored relationship with God, receive His Holy Spirit and have eternal life. This is by repenting, believing in Jesus, being baptised, receiving the gift of His Holy Spirit and following Him.

That is the Good News of Jesus Christ and the below is a further illustration and explanation of this incredible news, how we can receive new life and be sealed with His Holy Spirit ⇩

  1. God’s perfect design

    God’s perfect design

In the very beginning God created the world according to His perfect design. It was a world full of love, peace, harmony and unity.

God made each of us with a purpose to worship Him and walk with Him.

“Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good! And evening passed and morning came, marking the sixth day.”
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1:31‬

  2. Sin

We all have sinned and walked away from God’s perfect design. God has given us all free will. Sin is a result of doing life our own way, dishonoring and disobeying God. The consequence of our sin is separation from God in this life and for all eternity.

“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭3:23

  3. Brokenness

Sin leads to brokenness. We see this all around us as well as in our own lives. When we realise this, we try to look for a way out. We may try to escape brokenness through the pursuit of success, religion, relationships with the wrong people, by drowning it out with substance abuse etc. Trying to figure it out on our own leads to more brokenness and realising our need for something greater.

“They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭1:25‬

  4. Jesus Christ

    Jesus Christ

God didn’t want us to be separated from Him forever and to leave us in our brokenness. So God sent Jesus, His one and only son to Earth who never sinned to conquer sin and death, in order for us to be saved from our sin which leads to death and restore us back into God’s perfect design.

Jesus was the perfect sacrifice to pay the penalty of our sin. By His death on the cross and resurrecting three days later, Jesus instead paid the price for us and provided the one and only way to be saved, forgiven, have eternal life and be restored into a relationship with God both in this life and for all eternity.

“For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.”
    ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:21

““For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.”
    ‭‭John‬ ‭3:16-17

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:23

“There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.””
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭4:12

“Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
    ‭‭John‬ ‭14:6‬

  5. Repent, believe and be baptised

    Repent, believe and be baptised

Our salvation is a gift from God and it is by God’s grace that we are saved through our faith in Jesus.

God’s word (the Bible) tells us how we can respond to the Good News about Jesus in Acts 2:38 “And Peter said to them, “Repent [change your old way of thinking, turn from your sinful ways, accept and follow Jesus as the Messiah] and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ because of the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

From our response, we now can live our lives with Jesus as our Lord and saviour, filled with the Holy Spirit, worshipping, obeying and following Him.

“We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭3:22‬ ‭

“Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.”
    ‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:16‬

“But you will receive power and ability when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be My witnesses [to tell people about Me] both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the ends of the earth.””
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭1:8‬ ‭

“If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:9-10‬

  6. Born again and restored

    Born again and restored

Jesus tells us we have to be born again to see and enter the Kingdom of God and He shares that being born again is to be born of water and the Spirit.

When we respond to the Good News about Jesus through our repentance and belief in Jesus, be baptised in water in the name of Jesus and be baptised in His Holy Spirit, we are born again, sealed and restored back into a relationship with God, His perfect design.

We become a new creation and are given a brand new start, our old life will be gone and our new life will begin. This will now allow us to obey, follow and worship God in spirit and truth.

“Jesus answered him, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, unless a person is born again [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, sanctified], he cannot [ever] see and experience the kingdom of God.””
‭‭John‬ ‭3:3‬

“Jesus answered, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot [ever] enter the kingdom of God.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3:5‬

“But if God’s Spirit lives in you, you are under the control of your spiritual nature, not your corrupt nature. Whoever doesn’t have the Spirit of Christ doesn’t belong to him.”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:9‬ ‭

“God is a spirit. Those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.””
    ‭‭John‬ ‭4:24‬ ‭

“In Him, you also, when you heard the word of truth, the good news of your salvation, and [as a result] believed in Him, were stamped with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit [the One promised by Christ] as owned and protected [by God].”
    ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭1:13‬ ‭

“For you [who are born-again have been reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, sanctified and] are all children of God [set apart for His purpose with full rights and privileges] through faith in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptized into Christ [into a spiritual union with the Christ, the Anointed] have clothed yourselves with Christ [that is, you have taken on His characteristics and values].”
    ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:26-27‬ ‭

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life]. But all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ [making us acceptable to Him] and gave us the ministry of reconciliation [so that by our example we might bring others to Him], that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting people’s sins against them [but canceling them]. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation [that is, restoration to favor with God].”
    ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:17-19‬

  7. So, where are you?

    So, where are you?

Right now, would you say you’re in a relationship with God in His perfect design or in brokenness? If you would consider yourself in brokenness and no longer want to remain there, the free gift of Salvation is available to you. Jesus loves you so much and wants you to be free from sin and no longer remain in brokenness.

Is there anything stopping you from responding to the Good News about Jesus today?

If nothing is stopping you and you’re ready to receive the free gift of salvation Jesus has for you, “...Repent [change your old way of thinking, turn from your sinful ways, accept and follow Jesus as the Messiah] and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ because of the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” ‭‭(Acts‬ ‭2:38‬)

Follow Jesus, obey His commands according to His word (the Bible) and His Holy Spirit. Nothing will be able to ever separate you from God’s love.

Connecting with a local Bible believing church can also help you with all the above.

    Jesus truly loves you 💛

“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
    Ephesians‬ ‭2:8-10‬

“And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.””
    Mark‬ ‭16:15-18‬ ‭

“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:38-39

The promise

Jesus is coming back. Be prepared and ready for His return to be with Jesus forever.

  1. ““Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know the way to where I am going.” “No, we don’t know, Lord,” Thomas said. “We have no idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
    ‭‭John‬ ‭14:1-6‬

  2. ““Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins, who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish [thoughtless, silly, and careless], and five were wise [far-sighted, practical, and sensible]. For when the foolish took their lamps, they did not take any [extra] oil with them, but the wise took flasks of oil along with their lamps. Now while the bridegroom was delayed, they all began to nod off, and they fell asleep. But at midnight there was a shout, ‘Look! The bridegroom [is coming]! Go out to meet him.’ Then all those virgins got up and put their own lamps in order [trimmed the wicks and added oil and lit them]. But the foolish virgins said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, because our lamps are going out.’ But the wise replied, ‘No, otherwise there will not be enough for us and for you, too; go instead to the dealers and buy oil for yourselves.’ But while they were going away to buy oil, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast; and the door was shut and locked. Later the others also came, and said, ‘Lord, Lord, open [the door] for us.’ But He replied, ‘I assure you and most solemnly say to you, I do not know you [we have no relationship].’ Therefore, be on the alert [be prepared and ready], for you do not know the day nor the hour [when the Son of Man will come].”
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭25:1-13

  3. “Now we do not want you to be uninformed, believers, about those who are asleep [in death], so that you will not grieve [for them] as the others do who have no hope [beyond this present life]. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again [as in fact He did], even so God [in this same way—by raising them from the dead] will bring with Him those [believers] who have fallen asleep in Jesus. For we say this to you by the Lord’s [own] word, that we who are still alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will in no way precede [into His presence] those [believers] who have fallen asleep [in death]. For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven with a shout of command, with the voice of the archangel and with the [blast of the] trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain [on the earth] will simultaneously be caught up (raptured) together with them [the resurrected ones] in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord! Therefore comfort and encourage one another with these words [concerning our reunion with believers who have died].”
    ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭4:13-18‬

  4. “Now I say this, believers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit nor be part of the kingdom of God; nor does the perishable (mortal) inherit the imperishable (immortal). Listen very carefully, I tell you a mystery [a secret truth decreed by God and previously hidden, but now revealed]; we will not all sleep [in death], but we will all be [completely] changed [wondrously transformed], in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at [the sound of] the last trumpet call. For a trumpet will sound, and the dead [who believed in Christ] will be raised imperishable, and we will be [completely] changed [wondrously transformed]. For this perishable [part of us] must put on the imperishable [nature], and this mortal [part of us that is capable of dying] must put on immortality [which is freedom from death]. And when this perishable puts on the imperishable, and this mortal puts on immortality, then the Scripture will be fulfilled that says, “Death is swallowed up in victory (vanquished forever). O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin [by which it brings death] is the law; but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory [as conquerors] through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
    ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:50-57‬

  5. “First of all, know [without any doubt] that mockers will come in the last days with their mocking, following after their own human desires and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming [what has become of it]? For ever since the fathers fell asleep [in death], all things have continued [exactly] as they did from the beginning of creation.” For they willingly forget [the fact] that the heavens existed long ago by the word of God, and the earth was formed out of water and by water, through which the world at that time was destroyed by being flooded with water. But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly people. Nevertheless, do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years is like one day. The Lord does not delay [as though He were unable to act] and is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is [extraordinarily] patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.”
    ‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:3-9‬

  6. “Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” Martha answered, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?””
    ‭‭John‬ ‭11:23-26‬

2 Timothy 1:9-10

“For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus. And now he has made all of this plain to us by the appearing of Christ Jesus, our Savior. He broke the power of death and illuminated the way to life and immortality through the Good News.”‬‬
