Do you hate racism?
Do you like baked goods?
Awesome, so do we.
We are the Triangle-North Carolina collective of Bakers Against Racism, a national social media campaign that was started by DC-area chefs earlier this month in response to the ongoing systemic oppression of Black Americans. We have been called on to use our culinary skills to raise funds to actively fight against racism and the unjust treatment of Black people in America. We are excited to start right here in our own community.
HOW IT WORKS:
ORDER: Select baked goods from your favorite home bakers and bake shops by Wednesday, June 17 at 11:59 PM. Once your order is complete, we will send you a confirmation email with your selected items and the amount to donate.
DONATE: WAIT FOR YOUR CONFIRMATION EMAIL. Send the cost of the baked goods listed in your confirmation email as a donation to Sankofa Farms and/or SAAFON by Thursday, June 18 at 11:59 PM. Learn more about each organization through the links below. UPDATE: We're having issues with the donation portal for the Land Loss Prevention Project. Please plan to direct donations to the two other organizations in the meantime. We'll update again if things change.
***Please note, we are not able to issue refunds since these donations will go directly to the organizations.***
SHOW US: Send a receipt of your donation (a screenshot of your phone works just fine!) to kchysmith@gmail.com by Thursday, June 18 at 11:59 PM.
PICK UP: All baked goods will be available for pick-up between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 20th at East Durham Bake Shop.
EAT UP: Enjoy your baked goods and use that energy to continue the fight against racism.
