About

I am a Latina. I’m tired of feeling powerless and I’m taking back my power!

Hi! I am Patty. Welcome to our page!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I have a Masters of Science degree in Finance and B.S. in Economics and Finance and currently I am an Associate at one of the largest investment banks in the world. However, those things do not define me.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am proud to be an immigrant. I am a first generation student. I am proud to be a U.S. citizen and I am tired of feeling powerless.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I would like to think this feeling started with the current administration 4 years ago, but I’ve realized it started before that.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am tired of Latinos being underrepresented, misrepresented, and undervalued.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We are a force to be reckoned with and yet we are made to feel weak and small.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am realizing and understanding my power as a Latina in this country and I want to help other Latinos find their power as well. In this community, I will share reflections/stories, financial advice, health advice, news/resources.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
All to be used to take action and all specifically for Latinos.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Power starts with information. Hope you join me on this journey.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We are taking back our power💪🏽

About

I am here attempting to regain my power as a Hispanic female in healthcare

Hey there! I am Jessica. I am the other side of Latinos Empowered and am eager to be in this space with my better half, alongside powerful Latinos. Currently, I am a nurse in an ICU, beginning my graduate school journey for a Nurse Education degree, and in the middle of finding my passions, aspirations and overall self. It has been a rewarding and, simultaneously, trying time to get to this very moment.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As a Latina in healthcare, I often found myself underrepresented amongst colleagues and over-stretched when caring for Hispanic patients. There are far too many barriers within a healthcare setting that, unfortunately, negatively affect our Latino communities as we have experienced amid the pandemic.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am here to educate about how the healthcare system works against our people and what we can do about it. I am here to encourage Latinos whom desire to work within healthcare to continue pursuing their dreams. I am here to share about my life as a Hispanic female, how I overcame negative circumstances in an attempt to regain my power and how this is all still a work in progress. Mostly, I am here for you, a Latinx stumbling upon our page; I hope you feel compelled to share your story as a Latinx in this country and know just how powerful you can be.
