About SHC

The Student Honors Council is a student government organization created for and by Honors Students.

Our organization is focused on creating an engaging, inclusive, and dynamic social environment in the Honors College at LIU Post.

Mission Statement:
The Honors College provides an outlet for its students to become involved in their community, organize social opportunities, and develop a voice through it’s honors council. The mission of the Student Honors Council is to foster a community and to provide a platform for honors students to use their voice.

SHC Officers

President Leah Bowbly

Leah is a Forensic Science student from South Haven, Kansas. Aside from SHC, she is also a member of the women's rowing team here on campus.

She is looking forward to helping to build the honors program and foster a stronger honors community.

Vice President Winny Chan

Hi I'm Winny and I'm a forensic science and chemistry major. When I'm not in classes I work as a chemistry lab TA, so I basically spend all my time in Pell.

Treasurer Taylor Larson

Taylor is a junior Accounting major from California. Outside of her SHC duties, she interns at Ernst & Young, explores new music, and spends a lot of her free time in the pottery studio. This year, her goal as Treasurer is to define a strong and consistent financial system for the Student Honors Council.

Sophomore Representative Nicole Kravetz

Hi! My name is Nicole, I am a Biology Major here at LIU post! You can catch me around campus at the barn or in life science, it’s basically my second home. If you see me, say hi and don’t be afraid to ask me if you have questions about classes, the honors college, or anything else!

Secretary Kendra Moore

Kendra is a senior nutrition and dietetics major hoping to become a family physician in the future. She loves swimming, eating, horses, travel, and her dog, Kai. An RA on campus and in her first year on the equestrian team, Kendra is involved on campus and excited to help grow the honors college community.

Junior Rep Rebecca Margolin

Rebecca Margolin is a Junior in the Honors College and Deans Scholars Program, majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Management, and minoring in Arts Entrepreneurship with a concentration in the Performing Arts. She plans to work in nonprofits and philanthropy after she graduates in May 2024. Rebecca is a member of the LIU dance team and was awarded Rookie of the Year for the 2020-2021 dance season, and is the current Vice President of Enactus. Outside of school, Rebecca is the Communications Specialist at Long Island Cares- The Harry Chapin Regional Food Bank, the largest food distributor on Long Island. Rebecca looks forward to being a member of the Honors Council and representing her class at the highest level.
