About SHC

The Student Honors Council is a student government organization created for and by Honors Students.

Our organization is focused on creating an engaging, inclusive, and dynamic social environment in the Honors College at LIU Post.

Mission Statement:
The Honors College provides an outlet for its students to become involved in their community, organize social opportunities, and develop a voice through it’s honors council. The mission of the Student Honors Council is to foster a community and to provide a platform for honors students to use their voice.

SHC Officers

President Christian Moon

Christian is a third year Forensic Science major with a minor in Chemistry from Woodbridge, Virginia. Outside of his academics, Christian likes to rock climb and enjoy the beauty of nature.

He is thrilled to work towards making a more inclusive and stronger honors community.

Vice President Evelin Figueroa

Evelin is a Senior Arts Management major from Louisville, KY. She writes poetry, paints, and is an RA at Nassau Hall.

She is excited to be back on campus and overseeing event planning with the Honors College.

Treasurer Lauren Simon

Lauren is a 2nd year Accounting major from Princeton, NJ. She is thrilled to be a part of and have the opportunity to use her accounting skills in such a promising organization.

Secretary Winny Chan

Winny Chan is a second year student at LIU Post. She is a Forensic Science Major with minors in chemistry, criminalistics, and criminal justice and cyber analytics. As the secretary, she will be in charge of the Instagram account so follow us @liupostshc!

Senior Rep. Maureen Meenan

Junior Rep. Kendra Moore

Kendra Moore is the Junior Class Representative. She is studying nutrition and dietetics with a focus on Pre-Medical science. Kendra loves water sports and horseback riding.

Sophomore Rep. Abbie Brown

Abbie Brown is a sophomore Musical Theatre major with a Chemistry minor. She enjoys planning events and hosting tea parties.

She is looking forward to an exciting new year!

Freshman Rep. Leah Bowlby

Leah Bowlby is a Freshman Forensic Science major from Kansas. She grew up in a really small town, where her graduating class was less than 20. Other than being involved in the sciences, she also grew up drawing and painting. Some of her favorite things to sketch are portraits of her friends and family.

She is really excited to get the opportunity to be a student at LIU and looks forward to sharing this year of her academic journey with LIU!

Freshmen Rep. Taylor Larson

Taylor is a Marketing and Finance major within the Dean’s Scholars Program. She is from Murrieta, CA, and loves baking, sketching and digital design, and being active.

She’s eager to start off her freshman year at LIU by getting to work with the Honors College.
