My Story

And letter to you…

As an Asian American woman, child of a single, immigrant tiger-mom, and former corporate 9-5er, I know what it’s like to feel like I don't quite fit in the box I'm "supposed" to. To wake up one day crushed by the realization that I had been living my entire life based on someone else’s definitions of success and happiness, not my own.

Like most children of immigrants, I spent my entire childhood learning that my voice was not important. That my definitions of success and happiness were not valid. That the only path to earning love, success, and acceptance was meeting expectations A, B, and C (good grades, good college, good job). That was the "correct" path. That was the "only" path.

And so I did it. I jumped through all the hoops only to realize on the other side that I was not happy or fulfilled. I wasn’t engaged. I was just going through the motions. So after two years,

I quit.

I quit my comfortable, stable corporate job and bought a one way ticket back home to myself.

With that one way ticket I rode motorcycles through the mountains of Vietnam and learned to salsa on sweaty dancefloors with Colombian locals. I scraped my hands and knees rock climbing in Laos and swam with bioluminescent plankton on the beautiful beaches of Thailand. I sat in ceremony with Peruvian shamans and trekked through the unforgiving Patagonian wilderness with everything I needed on my back.

I’ve traveled to over 20 countries, wandering around the world in pursuit of a sense of purpose or “belonging,” trying to figure out where, in the grand scheme of things, I belong. In all of that wandering, I’ve realized that, “the deep unexplainable longing is not for a place, but is rather a longing to go home to the authentic self, and to honor all that the self needs in order to thrive.”

If there is one thing I've learned on this path it's: if you are spending all of your energy pretending to be something you’re not, trying to fit into a mold that was not designed with you in mind, you’ll have nothing left to give back.

By exchanging your authenticity for acceptance, you’re not only selling yourself short, but the rest of the world too.

That is why I do what I do.

Because I believe that every person has a light to share, it’s just sometimes buried beneath years of being told that you’re not good enough. And I believe that, just as you were taught to dim that shine and bury it, you can also learn to liberate it.

I know how scary it can be to take the unconventional path home to yourself, but I also know what it's like to be on the other side of "I could never..." and trust me when I say, it’s worth it.

My work is to guide you to identify and unlearn the voices that told you that you can’t. To learn to discern your own true voice from all the other voices you’ve picked up along the way.

I am here to show you the inner light you carry that you can’t see for yourself. To help illuminate the ways in which you were taught to be anything other than you and provide practical, actionable steps for you to rediscover your voice, trust in your innate wisdom, and carve a path toward a life that is meaningful to you.

I am here to help you design your own blueprints for the life you want, not the life you think you should have. To help you get curious about who you are and what you want out of this life.

I am a life co-designer, a flashlight helping you to navigate your (sometimes bumpy) path to joy, a partner in your transformation, a catalyst for the change that you want and, deep down, know that you deserve.

In support of your unfolding,
Yvonne

About

“Most of us have two lives. The life we live and the unlived life within us.” - Steven Pressfield

Yvonne is a certified life coach, and Dream Architect, and de-conditioning expert specializing in empowering womxn of color and children of immigrants to create lives of authentic fulfillment, purpose, and ease.

As a WOC and daughter of immigrants herself, she knows what it’s like to live her life according to someone else’s expectations and the nuanced cultural challenges that arise in choosing to walk one’s own path.

With a degree in psychology and a background of holistic studies across the fields of cultural anthropology, sociology, Human Design, and yoga, Yvonne has spent over 15 years studying people and what it means to live a connected and meaningful life—what it means to be human.

Known for her deep empathy and ability to discern between what is authentic and what is conditioned, Yvonne works seamlessly and intuitively at the intersection of positive psychology and Human Design to identify what stories need to be released in order to honor who you are at your core.

With thoughtful, compassionate honesty and artful questioning, Yvonne guides her clients to uncover the ways in which they were taught to abandon their own voice and identify what patterns need to be unlearned so they can grow into who they were always meant to be.

This blended methodology---with a bit of woo, yet grounded in evidence-based positive psychology---has supported Yvonne's clients to shed their conditioning and limiting stories, experience radical self-love and acceptance, and start showing up for themselves and creating a fulfilling life on their terms.
